Question

How 401K Rollover

I changed jobs in 2022 and rolled over my 401k into a IRA (tradtional). How do I report this rollover on my 2022 taxes?

If you received a 1099-R, you can enter it in TurboTax.  If you did a trustee-to-trustee rollover (you did not receive a check), you will not get a 1099-R and you do not have to report it on your tax return.

See Rollovers of Retirement Plan and IRA Distributions.

A rollover from a 401(k) to an IRA always requires a Form 1099-R and is required to be reported.
