Backdoor roth conversion

I did a late backdoor roth conversion in 2026 (before tax dealine) for tax year 2025. I did not receive a 1099-R and will receive it next year (Jan 2027) from Fidelity. How do I enter this in turbotax? How will I show the recharacterization?

    follow the steps here

    https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/retirement-benefits/enter-backdoor-roth-ira-conversion/L7gGPjKVY_US_en_US

for 2025 you will only enter the non-deductible contribution which will be reflected on Form 8606 Line 1 and 14 which will carry forward as basis to your 2026 Form 8606 Line 2 when you report the conversion on your 2026 taxes.

when you enter the Trad IRA contribution say NO to anything to with recharacterizing/moving the money to Roth IRA - you did NOT do a "recharacterization" which is a change of contribution to a direct Roth contribution.  Roth "conversion" is different, and is reported by the 1099-R distribution when you get that next year there will be a question after the 1099-R to specify that the distribution was a conversion.
