Renting an apartment with poor credit

So my credit score dropped to the 400s from student loan debt 3 months ago. I’m looking to rent my first apartment with my rental history.  I’m nervous that I will be denied and I honestly want reassurance that someone else has rented with a low credit score and how we’re approved with such credit.
