Filed as a non-filer accidentally but am a 1099 employee who usually owes at the end of year

I wanted to submit my direct deposit information with the IRS for my stimulus check.  I normally file as a 1099 employee and owe taxes at the end of the year.  I have not filed for 2019.  I accidentally used the non- filer option.  I know at least one other person who did the same and they did receive the payment. I have not received my stimulus payment and when I go to Get My Payment on the IRS site I keep getting 'Payment Status Not Available' Message.  I'm afraid that because I used the wrong tool to submit my direct deposit information that I messed something up.  I meet all of the criteria to receive a payment and probably should have received it by now.  What should I do?

At this point, there is nothing you can do except wait.  Using the non-filer application to submit your information may trigger a stimulus payment, but there is no set schedule for when the IRS is releasing those payments.

Since you did use the non-filer application, that means that a zero-income tax return has been submitted to the IRS under your Social Security number.  When you are ready to file your 2019 tax return, you will not be able to submit it electronically or it will be rejected.  Your return must be submitted by mail.

Keep the following link handy.  There is a place inside the article to sign up with your email address to be notified when more specific instructions are added regarding how to submit your tax return after using the non-filer application.  This pertains to the specific reject code that you would see if you tried to submit your return electronically.
