Child support refund

My child’s father owed $1700 in child support. They intercepted his return stating because of child support, which was $1600, I only received a $800 check. Where is the rest, we were thinking it was going to be all $1600.

I can’t say for certain but if I had to guess- it’s likely that his refund was only $800 so that was all they could take. You’ll have to consult the IRS or a lawyer but this is the most likely possibility.

If less then the fill amount the IRS will send a letter in about 2 weeks explaining it.
