Why are you demanding ownership information on an RENTED property

Where are you seeing this?  Which state do you live in?  In general, there is no need for ownership information on a rented property if you are a tenant unless you are trying to take a rental credit for the state.  If you are being asked this on a state return, then you would need to provide this information in order to take the renters credit.  If you do not qualify for a renters credit, then you can skip that section.

If you are the owner of the property and renting it out to tenants, then you would be the owner and need to provide some information such as the address and such in order to claim your rental income and expenses.

If neither of these apply then please respond with more details (as many as possible) regarding where you are being asked this information.
