Single Family Home.1099-MISC lists Rents as $10230 and Royalties as $0. The software says the two must be reported as separate properties on sched E. I can't file w/ $0.

The software will not accept $0 for Royalty Income from Form 1099-MISC. It continues sending me back to Schedule E to enter a value.

Do you have any royalties, or just rental income? If you do not have any royalties, delete the $0 and leave that box blank.

  1. Type 1099-misc in Search in the upper right
  2. Select Jump to 1099-misc
  3. On 1099-MISC Summary, chose EDIT
  4. Remove $0 from Box 2 - Royalties > Continue

Correct ... why the nuts who issued the 1099 put a zero in the box is beyond me as it means  absolutely nothing.
