How in the hell can you get a cost basis for a stock bought in 2012 even after talking personally with broker and company who sold and issued me this stock??????????????

Was the cost basis for a stock that you purchased?  Or was the stock purchased by someone else and you inherited or were gifted the stock?  Or something else?

It is possible to research the historical cost by using a tool returned under a Google search for 'historical stock price lookup tool'.
