On my state it's asking for property appraisal value. I don't own my home, I rent. Why is it asking that?

Most likely, you live in a state that taxes personal income and also offers a renter's credit. To figure the amount of your credit, the appraised tax value of the property is necessary. Most likely, you can find that information on the local county's property appraiser's website.

What state are you referring to?  Please clarify.  Perhaps this is a form of property tax relief.  Some states have a property tax refund even for renters of property.
