I used the same property ID number on my taxes in 2017 and it was ok.

Which state are you in? There may have been a change in the form or acceptable length or some odd thing.

Are you in Hawaii by any chance? If so, the HI dept of taxation changed the format years ago.  The old format started with the letter "W" followed by numbers. The new format starts with two letters, followed by numbers. An example of the new format would be GE-009-176-8832-01
