I'm selling a rental property. How do I find the total amount of depreciation for all the years I owned the property for calculating depreciation recapture?

Please note Form Number and Line Number if possible. Thanks

If you've been using TurboTax, there is a form entitled "Form 4562 Depreciation and Amortization Report" which will show your accumulated depreciation figure.

If you used some other income tax preparation software, the form may vary from what TurboTax offers and the form would typically be for your records only; you would not file it with the IRS.

Frankly, you should know the total amount you deducted since the best practice is to keep a record outside of TurboTax, or any other income tax preparation program.
