How do i issue a 1099 misc to the salon owner where i booth rent?

Make sure you are required to issue the salon owner a 1099-MISC before you do as 1099s have to be issued before 01/31 to avoid penalties.  The basic rule is that you must file a 1099-MISC whenever you pay $600 more to an unincorporated independent contractor — that is, an independent contractor who is a sole proprietor or member of a partnership or LLC. 

 

You can use TurboTax Self-Employed, TurboTax Self-Employed Live, TurboTax Home & Business for Windows, and TurboTax Business to create W-2 and 1099-MISC forms for your employees and contractors you paid over $600.  Choose your platform below for full instructions:
