I have about 30 entries that were generated onto my 8949 via download from etrade. Block (e) cost bases was not copied into the sheet. Now the program requires an entry and ask for one but the order is impossible to see what line item goes with what since they all have the same name.
Plus you can not fix the problem on the sheet itself since some rocket scientist decided to lock the editing function out.
I have tried to fix it with no luck.

There is an alternative if your 1099-B import didn't work properly. You can enter category totals instead of individual transactions. To do so,
After entering all your category summaries, Look for "To finish reporting these sales, follow the mailing instructions" and click on the link for these instructions:
Take a moment to double-check that your statements are complete. For each sale listed, there should be:
In some uncommon cases, there will be an adjustment code and adjustment amount.
NOTE: Any sales summaries that include only Box A or Box D sales, and which have no adjustments to gain/loss, do not need to be included on a statement mailed to the IRS.
Here's how to mail your statements:
If you are e-filing your tax return, then mail your statements along with Form 8453 to:
Internal Revenue Service
Attn: Shipping and Receiving, 0254
Receipt and Control Branch
Austin, TX 73344-0254
If you are not e-filing, then mail your statements with your entire tax return to your local IRS office.
I will look at this but the reason I purchase this program for over $100 was not to do this type of entering information. I think it would be easier to fix the program to allow editing were need be. I was in the final area and already paid to send the forms. Praying this doesn't mess that all up.
Next year I will probably just file on my own, ugh.
I understand your concerns about having to enter the information, but it would be seven entries at the most, if you had one from each potential category.
print the two documents and get Trump's favorite tool the sharpie pen and match up your transactions.
It is tedious but doable for 30 transactions. Then use the TurboTax EDIT/UPDATE to repair any omissions or discrepancies.
Ok I can't remember exactly what I did but it was something like this.
I went back in to delete and re-enter the items and I pushed edit, while in the edit area there was another link for that etrade block. When I clicked it, it showed all the items I needed to add additional information for. You could only edit one at a time but this was still better than the other options.
Sorry but that is no longer shown when I go back since everything has been corrected. But there was another link in the edit area for that investment selection.
It is taken care of now but was very frustrating as to the complexity of editing documents.
Part of my frustration lies with etrade for not allowing that block to be shown in turbo tax program.
Thanks for the help!
