Finished 2023 taxes and then amended 2022 taxes - how to use new 2022 data

While I was doing my 2023 taxes in Turbotax, I realized that I had made a mistake on my 2022 taxes.  So I did not file my 2023 taxes.  I went back to 2022 Turbotax and amended my 2022 taxes.  I have mailed the amended 2022.  My problem now is that my 2023 taxes are using the old 2022 data, and I don't know how to make the 2023 software go back and get the amended 2022 numbers.  I can probably start a whole new 2023 return, but what a pain!  Any ideas?  (And I hate to use up one of my 5 slots to start a new return).

I wouldn't advise starting your 2023 tax return over. You can use your amended return to adjust or change any figures that need to be different on your 2023 tax return. Print out your 2022 amended return so that it's available as you go through your 2023 tax return.

If you would like to provide more details about exactly what might affect your 2023 tax return we can be more specific.

Finished 2023 taxes and then amended 2022 taxes - how to use new 2022 data

Thank you for your response.  I'll give you more specifics:  The reason I amended is that I entered my real estate taxes under "itemized deductions" instead of entering them in the Rental Property section.  Once I amended the mistake, I was owed a refund instead of having to pay about $500.

Concern 1:  my current 2023 taxes don't show the refund for 2022.  Do I need to manually correct that for 2023?

Concern2:  I have profit/loss carryover from 2022, and I can't figure out exactly where to manually enter that in my 2023 taxes, as you suggested.  I find it confusing because there are so many places that carryover is mentioned.  Which one do I change?

Concern3:  what other places to I have to change in 2023?

Thanks for your help.

Since you amended your 2022 return and it sounds as though you have a lot of information that is carried over I would recommend that you restart the 2023 return.  Without preparing it for you I don't think anyone could tell you with confidence what areas you need to adjust and not rolling everything over risks missing something that would be automatic otherwise.  I'm sorry about losing the extra slot but I think this is probably worth the hassle.
