chmunson,
Not at all sure I can help, but what state are we talking about? And did you auto-import from Ameritrade or type entries in manually? I live in CA and have never had to enter a state ID for my brokerage 1099's. But then, I never have had any state income tax withheld and so had no need to even look at the state fields. Did tech support ask you to go in and try to erase the ID field?
Thanks for getting back. My previous response/clarification was not delivered to Intuit for unknown reasons. The problem is that filing cannot go forward because no 2 digit or character codes will satisfy this "error correction" roadblock. The tech person I worked with on 4/11 tried everything such as state abbreviation codes, numerical codes used by some states, "XX" which indicates that OID tax-free interest came from more than one state (my return has 2 states which were identified after the Ameritrade file was imported). The program even generated a "00" code and proceeded to tell me it was invalid (when hitting the "continue" button. The Ameritrade 1099 printout lists no such ID code. If I go past the error correction phase and directly to filing the return, the error message pops up again and won't allow completion. I appreciate your willing to help and look forward to any suggestions.
