Adjusting cost basis on 1099-B

@ nexchap I sold all my EPD shares in 2020. The shares were a mix of long and short period sales purchased over the previous 3-year period. I have read through all of the comments and have been able to zero out the capital gain in the interrogation so no K-1 data went to the 8949. Ordinary gain went to form 4797. I calculated my basis as you described in comments above. Now comes my problem. When I look for form 1099-B in TT, I only find a 1099-B  worksheet with a separate page for every purchase/sale shown in Section I: Values for Form 8949. (I had imported the 1099-B from my Broker into TT.) There is a place for an adjustment amount and for an adjustment code for each listing. Am I missing something? Should I adjust each listing proportionally to end up with the correct total basis. What is the appropriate code for the adjustment to basis?

Adjusting cost basis on 1099-B

EPD is a publicly traded partnership. as such the sales should have been reported in the section of the 1099-B where the cost basis is not reported to the IRS.  EPD should have provided a sales schedule that allows you to compute the long and short-term capital gains. this is what's important.

you can adjust the cost on one S-T sale so that the cost for all S-T sales are correct. the same for one long-term sale so that the cost for all L-T is correct.  the IRS won't raise any issues because the broker does not furnish the IRS with the cost basis

Adjusting cost basis on 1099-B

@Mike9241 Thank you for your response. I adjusted one line of the 1099-B worksheet for each of L-T and S-T basis for my EPD shares and the results flowed through to form 8949 so looks good so far. Another question that has come up is that the passive losses for 2018 (I had losses for 2018, 2019, and 2020) did not come over to 2019 and I did not notice this when I filed. Is there somewhere I can report the 2018 passive losses on my 2020 return (the 2019 losses have come over to 2020) now that I am reporting complete sale of EPD in 2020?
