On my 2019 taxes I filed as someone could claim me but when they went to do their taxes they ended up not being able to because I made to much, will this affect me when trying to receive my check? I haven’t received one yet

    probably will , but there is a fix

    here are the qualifications for the stimulus:

    A1.  You may be eligible to receive a Payment if you:

    • Are a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident alien;
    • Cannot be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return;
    • Have a Social Security number (SSN) that is valid for employment (valid SSN); and
      • Exception: If either spouse is a member of the U.S. Armed Forces at any time during the taxable year, then only one spouse needs to have a valid SSN
    • Have adjusted gross income below an amount based on your filing status and the number of your qualifying children.

    best options to fix:

    1) put in an amendment, but this will take a minimum of 4 months and there is no advise from the IRS whether they are going to send out the stimulus check immediately after processing the amendment. Maybe they will and maybe they won't

    2) Wait to resolve on next year's tax return

    • The stimulus payments are really based on your 2020 tax return (income, dependents, etc).
    • The IRS is using either 2018 or 2019 – whatever is available  - to ESTIMATE that payment
    • When you file next year there will be a “settle up” section on the tax return.
    • If you are due more stimulus (and this would include where you simply never received it this year), you will receive it through the 2020 tax filing as an additional refund
    • If you received too much stimulus (not the issue here), by law , you are not required to return it

    so if you are qualified to get it, it's just a matter of when.....

    Where's my stimulous check?  I filed my taxes through turbo tax electronically and received my federal return over 2 months ago!  Now I still haven't received my stimulous check., and it's saying the account numbers are different than what the IRS has and what turbo tax has!!  Why so, and yet I'm still getting billed $4.45 from turbo tax for a monthly fee??  This sounds like fraud to me!  I want some definate answers!!!!

    It depends.

    As far as the stimulus payment, the IRS has just started issuing the stimulus payments and is working as quickly as they can to issue the payments.

    The payment of the stimulus funds can be tracked at the following website:

    Please see the following for facts related to the payments as processed by the IRS.
