Is Face Amount what I paid for a stock initially?

Level 15

If the security represents indebtedness (ex: bonds), then Box 19 – Face amount is the value that appears on the face of the document (the amount to be repaid at maturity). This box should be blank if the security doesn't have a face amount (ex: shares).
