My husband receives a Pension from NY Transit.  We reside in Texas where there is no state tax.  If we move to California how will his retirement be affected.

Thank you

You pay tax to the state that you live in.  If you live in CA, you will pay tax in CA.   You have not had to worry about it in TX, since TX has no state income tax.  CA will be a different story.

Your retirement would be taxed in California.  The retirement income is taxed in the state where you reside when your receive it, not the state where you "earned" the retirement.
