Reporting a program error

I have encountered an error in the Turbo Tax 2025 program and wish to report it so it can be corrected. I’m not sure if they are aware of the problem but the tax calculation was showing an erroneous RMD under withdrawal penalty on my 1099-s entries. I determined the cause of the error and wish to inform them. I am using the MAC Premier version.

    Hi @rscrivener
Can you explain which screen you're on and the cause of the error you've found? We'll need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed to take a deeper look at this. You can send one to us by following the directions below:

    TurboTax Online

    1. Sign-in to your online account.
    2. Select "Pick up where you left off"
    3. Click on “Tax Tools” to the left hand side of the screen.
    4. Select "Tools"
    5. A drop-down will appear. Click on “Share my file with  Agent”. This will generate a message that a diagnostic copy will be created.
    6. When the token is generated, be prepared to type in your notes or in a message (unable to copy and paste)
    7. Click “OK”.  The tax file will then be sanitized and sent to us. This action will generate a Token Number
    8. Please respond directly to this message and provide the Token Number that was generated.

    TurboTax Desktop

    1. Open your return.
    2. Click “Online” and select "Send Tax File to Agent".
    3. This will generate a message that a diagnostic copy will be created.
    4. When the token is generated, be prepared to type in your notes or in a message (unable to copy and paste)
    5. Click “OK”. The tax file will then be sanitized and sent to us. This action will generate a Token Number
    6. Please respond directly to this message and provide the Token Number that was generated.

    Thanks!

    Token # 11755915-62656117

In the fourth 1099-R I answered $0 when prompted for RMD amount because that IRA was opened in 2025. A penalty was assessed because the calculation ignored the distribution amount for that 1099-R. If I replace the $0 response with $1, the distribution amount was registered and the penalty went away.

    Hi @rscrivener
We're taking a look at your example. The workaround you provided should not prevent you from filing at the moment. If we have any updates, we'll reply on this thread or send you a message. Thanks again for these details and your cooperation!
