Can you locate the previous file which might have a “~” in front of it?

You most likely overwrote, accidentally, the original file when you saved the new one. That’s going to be a problem; if you don’t have a backup of the original, you may have to start a new return.

If Windows finds a .tax2025 file dated today, you must have done a Save in TurboTax today. What tax return did you save? Is the name of the file with today's date the same as the name of the file that you were working on in June?

What exactly do you mean by "initial state"? Sometimes when you update TurboTax it forgets what you were up to, so it takes you to the beginning of the interview. But the data that you entered previously is still there. Go to a topic where you entered data in June and see if the data is there.
