Your parents are eligible to claim you if you are a student and they provide more than half of your support you up to when you are 24 years old.  If they were supposed to claim you, then you can mark in the My Info section in TurboTax that you are a dependent of someone else, and file your return.

If they were not supposed to claim you, you can electronically file your return, you  must include an IP PIN.  Per the IRS, If your are under 18 or cannot setup an ID.me account you can submit Form 15227, Application for an Identity Protection Personal Identification Number online. The phone number provided on the form will be used to contact you to verify your identity before an IP PIN can be issued.

Once you get it, see the steps below to enter it on your return:

  1. Open your return
  2. Go to IP PIN
  3. On the Identity Protection PIN screen, answer Yes. Select Add and enter your IP PIN in the space provided.
  4. Select Continue, then select Done.
