Errors Under Smart Check

I am using TT Home & Business Desktop & have 2 errors under “Smart Check”, both for having “Estimated Amounts” on the “Tax Summary” schedule.  It says “Stdref” and “Itemliab” are estimated & fix it through edit menu, which I have no idea what they are talking about. I have put the screenshot of the issues below.

There are no items in “red” font on this schedule to indicate any overrides or estimates. I even went through every single line item (even the blank ones) on the “Tax Summary” schedule & nothing is marked estimated.  Under the forms module, the only form with a red exclamation point next to it is this “Tax Summary” but again there are no numbers on it that are estimated. My state return doesn’t have any errors.

What am I missing? Can you please let me know how to fix this glitch? Thank you.

Follow these steps in your TurboTax Home & Business Desktop software to clear it out:

    • Switch to Forms Mode: Look at the top right-hand corner of your screen and click on the Forms icon.
    •
    • Locate the Form: In the left-hand panel, find the list of "Forms in My Return." Scroll until you see Tax Summary (the one with the red exclamation point next to it). Click on it so it opens on your screen.
    •
    • Delete the Form: Look at the bottom center of the screen and click the Delete Form button. Alternatively, you can go to the top menu bar and select Forms > Remove [Form Name].
    •
    • Confirm the Deletion: Click Yes when the prompt asks you to confirm you want to delete the Tax Summary form.
    •
    • Let it Regenerate: Return to the Step-by-Step guide (click the icon in the top right). TurboTax will automatically rebuild the Tax Summary form instantly using your active data.
    •
    • Rerun Smart Check: Run your Smart Check / Final Review again. The Stdref and Itemliab errors should now be completely gone.

This is a known software bug in TurboTax. The cryptic names stand for Standard Deduction Reference (Stdref) and Itemized Deduction Liability (Itemliab). When you flip-flop between standard and itemized deductions during your return prep, the software can trigger a hidden "estimated" flag in the background metadata of the Tax Summary sheet, even though no numbers appear red or overridden.

    • Thank you, thank you, and thank you!  It worked! I had never encountered that error before! Is TT ever going to fix it? It certainly takes a village to do our income taxes! Thank you again.
