e-file transmission error

Using the desktop edition of TurboTax Deluxe 2021. Completed my federal return and one state return, no errors are indicated, and my software is up to date. I get an error when I attempt to e-file, indicating "The Intuit Electronic Filing System is having difficulty recognizing the data in the return you are sending." It also indicates "- Tax Year 2021 transmissions are not available. - TurboTax is not ready to process Tax Year 2021 for this return."

I typically file in early February. Is there a delay this year? What do these error messages mean?

I’m having the same issue trying to file my returns I’m using the online one and it keeps saying tax transition 2021 in unavailable

Same issue here in NC. Family members filed first week in February and it worked fine. Now mine is not transmitting. Basic form, I’m a college student.

Tax Year 2021 transmissions are not available.

The North Carolina Individual Income Tax Return Form D-400 is not yet available for e-filing. It is estimated to be available on 02/24/2022

Go to this TurboTax website for North Carolina state forms availability - https://care-cdn.prodsupportsite.a.intuit.com/forms-availability/turbotax_nc_online_individual.html

If you want to e-file your federal tax return now then change how you file the NC state return. This assumes that all of the forms and schedules included in your federal tax return are available for e-filing.

If using the TurboTax online editions click on File on the left side of the online program screen. On Step 3 of the File section click on Start or Revisit. Select the button File by Mail. Then change the filing status of the state return.

After the federal return is e-filed and accepted by the IRS you can e-file the state return when it is available for e-filing. Just use the same procedure and change the state return back to e-filing.

How long do we have to wait for error messages to be cleared up? I filed 2/12 and the message says rejected because they are not accepting for tax year 2021?

Are you referring to a Federal return, state return, or both. If state, which state?

Are you not reading the posts? It looks like several States are having the issue. We all are getting emails that say our state forms are in and to complete our tax forms to evoke. Only to end up getting the error.

When I try to e-file my returns I keep getting this message. It reads Tax Year 2021 transmission are not available. What does that mean?

Your transmission didn't go through

We could not e-file your return for the following reason:

Tax Year 2021 transmissions are not available.

I tried e-filing fed and state tax return from North Carolina using the online application.

I got the same thing when trying to submit my taxes at the end. (Tax Year 2021 transmissions are not available.) Never have had this problem in the past when e-filing w/TurboApp.

Some NC forms (including the main Form D-400) are not yet finalized and available for efiling. Projected availability date is 2/24/2022, according to the availability tables:

If you wish, you can efile the Federal return now (if all your Fed forms are available) and efile the NC state return later. To do that, you would need to temporarily change the filing method for the state return and tell TurboTax that you intend to "mail" the state return. Then when the state forms are available you can switch the method back to efile.
