Question

1099-MISC

I received a 1099-MISC from my dad's employer. However, he's now deceased and I've filed my taxes already.

On the 1099-MISC the only box that is marked is Box 3: Other income and everything else is blank.

(Also received 1099-MISC after I filed taxes)

Would I have to amend my 2019 taxes and input this 1099?

If I receive my tax return before I get to amend what do I do?

After I amend, is just a plug and play where I plug in the 1099 and change nothing else on the return?

Thanks

for your 1099, you'll have to amend if your return is accepted.  you can not amend until the original return is fully processed - you get your refund or the IRS clears the payment.

the 1099 goes on schedule C with job related expenses.  you will owe self employment taxes if the net is more than $400 but you probably will get the QBI deduction

under certain conditions you may be able to deduct health insurance premiums paid, even Marketplace Insurance,  on page 1 of your return rather than as a schedule A deduction

if you have a state return that also needs to be amended also

you can not efile them. they must be mailed.

the 1040-x which you need to amend is not yet available.

when you open TT click on the amend my return icon

So I have the actual paper 1099-MISC right now, so wait till I get the return, amend it and then just plug in the data from it?
