Are you required to file a tax return?  If your parents claim you as a dependent, they can claim your education expenses from the 1098-T on their return, but if they don't qualify for an Education Credit, you can claim the 1098-T expenses on your return to offset your grant income.   Depending on the total amount of your grant income and any other income, you may not be required to file.    @kbudwal412

Yes, both of you will have to enter Form 1095-A on your tax returns. TurboTax will ask you questions about if the policy was shared with someone and how to allocate the costs and credit.    The percentages that you should enter for your premium, your SLCSP, and your advance payment should be an amount that you and your family member agree on. It could be 50/50/50 for your premium/ your SLCSP/your advance or another amount. Make sure you are in agreement and that the percentages on all tax returns add up to 100% together.   TurboTax will calculate the information that should be on your return based on your answers.   Refer to the TurboTax article Where do I enter my 1095-A? for navigation instructions.   If your parent’s claim you on their tax return and you’re filing a return indicating that you’re a dependent on someone else’s return, you won’t have any questions on your tax return regarding health insurance.   Refer to the TurboTax article I'm on my parents' 1095-A form. What do I do on my return?  for more information.   Please see this help article for information regarding how the non-dependent child should complete the Form 8962 on their own tax return so that they do not allocate any premium tax credit to themselves.   TurboTax will automatically fill out Form 8962 once you enter your Form 1095-A if your ex-spouse received advance payments of the Premium Tax Credit.

The overtime premium—the extra you earn above your regular rate—is now tax-deductible for some taxpayers.    For example, if you earn $20 per hour, your overtime rate is $30. The $10 difference is the overtime premium. With tax law changes for 2025–2028, you don't have to pay federal income tax on that extra $10.   You can deduct up to $12,500 per year ($25,000 if Married Filing Jointly).   More OT info

A new roof is generally not directly tax-deductible as a current expense on your federal income taxes because the IRS considers it a capital improvement. However, you can add the cost to your home’s "adjusted basis," which reduces capital gains tax when you sell. Energy-efficient roofs may qualify for tax credits.  See the following link for more info: Energy Incentives for Individuals
