Or are you also asking if your return was Accepted?  When you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile. Check back though your emails and spam/junk folder.   For the Desktop program you have to check the filing status inside the program. Open your return and go up to menu item File > Electronic Filing > Check Electronic Filing Status

Did you already file and applied part of y our refund to next  year?     If you haven't filed yet,    To change the entry you made to apply your Federal refund to next year Federal Taxes Tab or Personal (H&B version) Other Tax Situations Additional Tax Payments Apply Refund to Next Year - Click the Start or Update button and answer NO or delete the amount. For State, See if this works. Go to State Taxes tab and keep continuing and stepping though the interview about a dozen or more screens and it will finally ask how much of your refund you want to apply. You can change it to zero. It is probably one of the last questions in the state section.
It is automatic and on 1040 or 1040SR line 13b.  It is not part  of the Standard Deduction.

Hi @WendyN2 I am reviewing this thread because I was just approved for SSDI and received backpay for almost 2 years. My insurance agent actually mentioned the concern for ACA premium tax credits and suggested I look into amending my tax returns. Since your answer is from 2021, I am wondering if this is still accurate or if something has changed since? LB

Merci!

Thank you for checking up my question.   Sadly, Turbotax 2025 Premium Desktop does not perform as you had hoped. I even deleted my 2025 return file, and re-entered the interview from get go... but when I look into the "forms", the 1040 showed box 6d unchecked.   It's very sucky. I have to print the thing, correct by hand and mail it from post office. I hope between now and say a few weeks, INTUIT makes available a patch.
