it's not done through the federal return To enter 2025 contributions to a Virginia 529 account in TurboTax, follow these steps: Navigate to the "Here's the income that Virginia handles differently" screen. Scroll down to the "Education" section. Click "Start" next to the Commonwealth Savers (Section 529) Plan. Enter the necessary information for the contributions made to the Virginia 529 account. This process will allow you to deduct the contributions on your Virginia state return, potentially resulting in a tax deduction of up to $4,000 per account per year. If the contributions exceed this limit, any amount above the $4,000 limit can be carried forward to future tax years.

I assume you're asking about the 6-digit IP-Pin rather than the 5-digit filing pin  Who Needs an IP PIN You may be required to have an IP PIN if: You were a victim of tax-related identity theft and the IRS has identified your account as at risk. You received a CP01A notice or similar IRS communication instructing you to use an IP PIN. You voluntarily opt into the IP PIN program for added security, even if you haven’t been a victim

I can think of only four reasons for rejection. 1) Bad info for the 4868 like your SSN or a bad routing or account number, 2) filing an extension for a return that has already been filed using your SSN 3) filing after 4/15 local time, 4) an IRS issue   You have until 11:59PM on 4/20 to fix the issue if possible You can file a tax extension through TurboTax by completing Form 4868 online, estimating your tax liability, and submitting the request electronically. Step-by-Step Guide Sign In to TurboTax Log in to your TurboTax account.  Navigate to the Extension Section Select “File an extension” from the left menu. If not visible, open any section of your return, search for “extend,” and select “Jump to extend.” Alternatively, go to “Tax Tools” → “Tools” → “File an extension”. You will need to provide: a) Personal information (name, address, Social Security number) b) Estimated tax liability and payments for the year. do not override the balance due calculation.  Review all information for accuracy. Submit the extension electronically through TurboTax. You will receive a confirmation once the IRS accepts your extension. Sources Keep Your Confirmation For future years: 1) Consider filing for an extension early once you have a reasonable estimate of your balance due. you can still select the payment date as 4/15 or 2) use the IRS website to file an extension. The same things apply. you can file early but select 4/15 as the payment date. You can print or safe(as a pdf) the confirmation
it will not take the DR 4684 code and stalling taxes

rab135,  What is the name of the program you used? Like you and other users, I thought TurboTax was the absolute top tax software in Canada. I have used it since I had to drive to the developer's house to pick up the program floppies (yes, floppies) when it was called CanTax. However, I am finding that they've fallen behind on many things, and the Charitable Donations Optimizer is just one example. In Alberta, there is an advantage to low-income users to split the first $200 between spouses. This problem has been identified for years, and if they can't make this simple fix, then it's time for me to move on. Thanks

Did you get an IRS letter with the change?   As a guess, does it have anything to do with Social Security income?  If so, we can tell you more about a possibility.  Some Social Security recipients are answering a screen incorrectly, which then reports the SS as nontaxable by mistake.

The IRS changed something on your return. TurboTax is never informed about changes made to returns, so talking to anyone at TurboTax is a waste of your time. The IRS. It will send you a notice or letter of explanation with instructions on how to contest the findings.  If TurboTax made a calculation error, it will reimburse you for penalties and interest after filing a claim. However, it's most likely something you didn't enter or entered incorrectly, which is not covered by its accuracy guarantee.

Use the PIN inquiry link Besides your SSN, you'll need one of the following a) Illinois driver's license number  b) Illinois state ID c) Illinois adjusted gross income from the prior year (same as Federal AGI line 11 from 2024 Federal return or line 1 of Illinois return  https://tax.illinois.gov/questionsandanswers/answer.59.html
All I can find is how to enter information to fund a 529 account by deducting a portion of a refund.

Hi, I amended my federal, PA and DC tax form.  When I want to do e-file and hit print preview, I could only see 1040-X and DC tax form, but PA -40 X is missing.  How to show my PA amended form ?

If the 2024 AGI from the original 2024 return is rejected, then the next step would be to resubmit the efile using a 2024 AGI of 0.    The IRS uses various databases, and for this one they use a specific efile database.  Sometimes the AGI doesn't work because the return was filed late in the year last year or filed on paper and took a long time to process.   At other times, it's unknown why it's not matching.  An AGI of 0 will often solve the problem.   If the AGI of 0 doesn't work, report back, and I have another suggestion on how you can likely still efile.
I had to resubmit several times but finally it went. Not sure which correction worked but it finally did
I’ve tried twice now TurboTax is trying to charge me $110 for some reason
