Hello, I tried to amend my 2024 state tax return for the 2nd time (already amended once last year), however, the amend on turbotax online does not reset the meter to 0 like federal return, and all it does is re-calculate from the original return (not from the amended return), which the "tax duty" is correct but the how much refund/due is wrong because it won't take into consideration what I already get from last amendment. [I also need to do 2023 amendment for same reason, one of the tax year my first amendment resulted in additional payment while the other one resulted in refund] now I wonder what can I do ? also it insisted me to file federal amendment (which does not change, and should not be amended).

To Catina who suggested just use 123 Main St for your address- this is bad advice. You can’t put a fake US address on your 1040 when filing from abroad. Turbotax then can’t apply the extra tax forms and requirements for expats. The IRS also doesn’t look kindly on fake addresses on your tax return.

Ok User177 I found a work around for now but will be transferring my tax preparation to MyExpat taxes in future as Turbo Tax has become increasingly non supportive of us taxpayers abroad.  Which is a shame as I first filed with turbo tax back in 2000- before it was online based.  you need  - US Credit card registered to a US address a relative kindly gave me permission to use his address.  - This same US address must be listed as a mailing address for the bank account you wish to have your refund deposited to. Most US banks will allow your residence address to be your foreign address and allow an additional mailing address that is a US one. You often have to call customer service to set it up.  - this year you also need a US phone number linked to the US address you give (relative came to my rescue again)    this is NOT required by the IRS or the credit card companies “for security” but is purely a Turbo Tax thing. I just helped my graduate daughter do her first US tax return on myExpat taxes and there were zero of these issues. So I will be switching to MyExpat taxes starting next year.    good luck 🤞

The online version doesn't bring up anything other than 'revisit' - and clicking on it simply brings back another 'revisit' - a useless loop.  I decided to switch to the desktop version, assuming that entering the SSA-1099-SM would be simple there...but it still was a problem in the line-by-line prompt mode.  It never gave me an opportunity to enter the data that way.  I finally succeeded by going to view FORMS - and requesting the SSA-1099 form - which actually brought up something more like a 'worksheet'.   I was able to type in the few numbers that the form contains (income, medicare part B amounts for self and spouse) that way.  All looks ok...except I don't know if Turbotax was able to compute correctly what portion of the SSN payments were going to be taxable.   I'm just gonna have to trust that it did get SOMETHING right!  (I'm kinda shocked that this glaring bug exists in the software - and I got the impression that it isn't just the 2025 year version that had this problem.)

First be sure your return was successfully efiled and accepted.  You can check at the Tax Home.   No one in this community forum can know your situation, but if you chose to pay fees out of your refund, some people end up with it taken out of the state refund, which may use Cross River Bank instead of SBTPG's bank.   Fees can come out of the state refund in these states:   Arizona, Colorado, California, Illinois, Ohio, Oregon, Michigan, and/or Wisconsin.   If you have both Federal and state refunds and live in one of those states, it's possible that the fees may be taken out of whichever refund arrives first and large enough to cover the fees.

you can't file as HOH without a dependent.  Check this IRS webpage to determine your proper filing status https://www.irs.gov/help/ita/what-is-my-filing-status
What country is it from? There may be a tax treaty that affects US taxation
