I'm in the same boat as others here. I turned 73 in 2025 and paid my entire RMD in 2025. Now Turbotax is telling me that it needs to know the amount that was required to be distributed by Dec 31, 2025 and that I shouldn't report amounts due on April 1 (presumably 2026). So, if I follow the advice given here, I enter $0 because my RMD technically wasn't due until then. Following this logic, next year, it will tell me that it wants to know the amount that was required to be distributed by Dec 31, 2026. So what am I supposed to enter then? 1) Just the RMD that I paid in 2026 or 2) The sum of the amounts that I paid in 2025 and 2026, both of which are technically due by 12/31/2026. Actually, one of them would be overdue. If TurboTax really needs to know the amount that was required to be distributed before the end of the year, as it says it does, then answer 2 is the only way for us to report it. If, on the other hand, we're all on the honor system here as someone else suggested, then why does TurboTax ask for this information at all. This part of TurboTax is confusing at best and really needs to be rewritten to clarify if and how you're supposed to report the RMD that you took in the previous year, even if it wasn't required to be taken until April 1st. The quantity of questions about this and the unease people have with the answers given should make that obvious.
If got a corrected consolicated1099 from Charles Schwab & Co and I have already uploaded the original one, how do I get the corrected one into Turbo Tax?
Is it worth using tube tax?

Are you trying to efile the Federal return and state return at the same time?    Or are you trying to efile the Alabama state return by itself?   If so, did you efile the Federal return previously, and if so, has it been accepted?   You can't efile a state return by itself unless the efiled Federal has been accepted.   If that's not it, then what happens when you try to efile the state return?  Where do you hit a roadblock?  Is there any error message?   I'd go back to the interview and run the state review again to see if it picks up any error.

I try to enter 1099 DIV or 1099 INT and it keeps kicking me back to pulling in investment income when I don't want to.

My husband is a retired minister and has three 1099-R forms to include--two of them have the 2b box checked, one does not.   I did manage to find on my Deluxe desktop version where you go to "Less Common Income", and then to "Miscellaneous Income" to report the housing costs with a negative number.  His costs greatly exceed all three amounts of income on his 1099-R when totaled together. I've always used TaxAct and did not have all of this--this is my first time with TurboTax.  What was always fairly easy, now seems quite complicated.  None of the information requirements on screens I have copied below from TurboTax were ever required in TaxAct.   I'm hoping I'm not doing things quite right, and it is triggering more screens asking for info.   Can you walk me through the rest of these screens, please?  Thanks so much. I'm working on the 1099-R which DOES have the box checked.  It eventually gets me to a screen that asks this--am I correct that I should check "No"?:     Annuity information For the years you received these distributions, was the total amount shown in the form the amount you paid tax on? Total amount taxable Yes No   Then, after checking "No":  I get to this (and I really don't know which to check, but I think Simplified Method): Annuity information Which did you use to figure out the taxable amount of this annuity? Taxable amount method General rule Simplified method   And, if this is correct, I come to this: Annuity information   Annuity start date   Plan cost   Number of months payments were received in 2025   Tax-free amount previously recovered   Death benefit exclusion

No context was provided, but if I had to guess, you are looking in a dropdown menu in the state taxes section of some form, and states with no state income tax are not included, such as Texas, Tennessee Florida, Nevada, etc. What form is it, and what box numbers have state income information on the form?
I suggest using efile again. Amending a returning would not be appropriate until you have an accepted efile or have mailed a paper return.

I am going to wait until Friday morning to see if the update corrected the problem. If the same error and rejection occurs then all of us will have to post about this again. If you are referring to the filing fee, I believe it is for a successful filing. My rejected filings in past years have never resulted in additional fees.
