1. Yes, report the full 1099-k. List the fees as a business expense. 2. Self employment section is for those who are self-employed - work for themselves - business owners. When you work at a job, the employer withholds Medicare and Social Security tax from your paycheck. A self-employed person, must pay the employee and employer share of the tax. This is called the self-employment or SE tax. 3. Cost of goods sold is calculated for you by using your beginning and ending inventory. A new business will only have an ending inventory. You need to look at your inventory at the end of each year and place a value on it. It can be what you paid originally or current value. 4. You stated in your first post "I didn't make any significant amount of money off my inventory I just kinda ball-parked the cost of the goods when I sold them to clients" which leaves me wondering if you do a personal service, like decorating, and just sometimes sell stuff you have. However, inventory is stuff you own for the purpose of creating a product or selling.  You can't say that you sell inventory and then claim to not have any. 5. I think you are saying sales price is cost of item + labor. That is a fine method except every item, has a cost and is included in the inventory.   You might buy a chest and turn it into something else. The chest is inventory when purchased, even if you sell it as a chair for riding elephants later. In which case, you would have cloth in your inventory too.   I suggest Small Businesses Self-Employed to help you understand more about Deducting expenses and Operating a business.

It's now almost mid-March and I find the amendment scenario has been included.  In trying to amend my return for the erroneous tax on my RMD, when I try to click on the "update" button for "Extra tax on early retirement withdrawal," nothing happens.  Is there a further update in the works, or must I file a paper amended return?

Yes, I did try it both ways. WITHOUT a designated transfer, I can carry forward the contribution such that none of the contribution is claimed this year, BUT the RRSP Worksheet is a little scary because it shows an "Excess amount with may be subject to a penalty tax in 2026". And WITH a designated transfer, it seem to claim the full contribution (which is wrong of course), and it won't let me carry any amount forward (at least in Easy Step mode). I think it's supposed to be a designated transfer, but because I did the transfer in the "first 60 days of 2026", I won't get my T4RIF until next year. So at this point, I think I will wait until next year to claim the contribution (as a designated transfer), and then hope that the T4RIF correctly cancels out that contribution. Maybe I'll give CRA a call, and hope that someone answers and can help me handle this scenario to their satisfaction.

If my adjustable and taxable income is zero dollars ($), and I sell my rental house and make $60,000, is the $60,000 capital gain taxable? I ask because I read articles that indicate that if the tax rate is $0 if, your taxable income is under a certain amount. Since my taxable income is $0, wouldn't I be excluded from paying income tax on capital gains?

My no state download issue also may have originated from a sketchy software provider called Big Home Tax. My 1st call to tech support posited this license as potentially the issue so I purchased a new version of Deluxe Desktop from Best Buy. The 2nd tech call felt that the fact that I successfully completed another return with native state return indicated that perhaps the sketchy license was not so sketchy after all. As part of the 3rd, final & successful call, I activated the new Best Buy license which moved me to the 2nd step (Address) of the purchase screen in TT and in auto populated my city and zip code but left the State address field unfilled. When trying to add my state residence info, that field would not accept input.  As I've stated previously, the fix was a direct drop of the state software to my Intuit account website and lots of hand holding to get it up & running. In conclusion, it appears that the TT license may be a culprit.
