The Form 1099-SA can be entered regardless of whether you have High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) coverage at the time that the distribution from the Health Savings Account (HSA) was taken.  The distribution from the HSA is not tied to a particular employer on your tax return and is entered in the HSA section of your return, where you will be asked questions about your 2025 HDHP coverage.     When entering this information into your return, answer the HDHP coverage questions for the 2025 tax year, even if you were not covered by a HDHP plan and did not make a contribution to an HSA for 2025.  Then, when entering the Form 1099-SA, just be sure to answer the follow-up question about whether the money was used to pay for medical expenses or something else.

My insurance company sent me a 1099-R for my RMD for 2025.  They never sent the RMD money to the IRS to pay my taxes. The insurance company has acknowledged their mistake in writing that this was their fault because of system errors.  The IRS penalty is $2200.00.  How do I get a waiver from the IRS for this penalty?  I filled out a Form 5329, but the 1040 line 38 still shows the penalty.  How do I not pay this penalty until the IRS reviews my waiver request?

I filed my taxes with a grouped 1099-B, then 3 weeks later got a K1 PTP form. I only use one broker - Swab, which correctly reported all the UVIX buy/sells, including wash sales, but I did not know I would get a K1. So I already filed my taxes this year, and I'm trying to decide if I need to amend. It does not change the taxes I owe, but has anyone done this before? As I will neither owe nor receive any additional money, do you think I should amend, or do not bother with the K1? Also, if I do amend, file before or after April 15th? Thank you!

Some states are fairly quick with refunds, while other states can take a long time processing returns--even several weeks--as they crack down on detecting fraudulent returns.     Here are some things you should check:   First, you need to be sure your state return was successfully filed.   If you efiled, be sure your efiled state return was accepted.  If you used Online TurboTax, you can check by looking at the Tax Home in your Online account.   Or did you choose to file by mail instead?  TurboTax does not mail it for you.  If you chose that method, you have to print, sign, date, and mail it.   The FAQ below tells how to check on a state refund.   When you scroll down further there, you will see a link for your state.   FAQ:  How do I track my state refund? https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_... Georgia had a 1.2 billion dollar surplus in 2025, so the governor is returning $250-$500 to each Georgia resident, but at the same time Georgia won’t raise the state SALT deduction to match the Federal amount of $40,000? I guess we know where the surplus is coming from.

That’s about the calculation that was my difference, so that is probably correct or close, but I’m not 100% sure

If your non-deductible Traditional IRA contribution was made in the same year (2025) as your conversion, then be sure that you enter the non-deductible contribution into your return.     But, if the non-deductible contribution was made in an earlier year and it was not reported on your return, then you may need to file Form 8606 now to report that contribution and then be sure to enter the basis of the Traditional IRA in your 2025 return.  That will make the conversion non-taxable.   Take a look at the section If your conversion contains contributions made in 2025 for 2024 in the following TurboTax help article for more guidance:   How do I enter a backdoor Roth IRA conversion?   @sean22king

I was overcharged last night and so far my attempts to get a refund have been unsuccessful! When I checked out, I saw $167. I put my card info on and all of a sudden the fee was to $222.  I didn't agree to that. It's very sick to now see that it's a common practice of Turbo Tax to do this.  I now to to dispute the charge with my credit card company.   This is my first year ever using this platform and certainly my last. Good riddance
