I have been doing backdoor roth for more than 10 years. However, starting tax year 2021, I noticed that turbotax is capturing the amount on line 14 for form 8606.    This is the amount on line 14 for each of the years: year 2021- $6,000 year 2022- $12,000 year 2023 - $18,500 year 2024 - $25,500   I have always moved the balance from my traditional ira into roth. However, i noticed that I did not move interest paid on the traditional ira balance into roth by the end of the year, so there was a balance carried over to the next year. Could this be causing an issue?   Is the amount shown on line 14 for each of those years correct, or do I need to re-file the form for any of the prior years? My understanding was that as long as I move the money into roth, the balance on line 14 should be 0.   I plan to move all the interest paid for this years contribution into roth this year itself, so the balance on my traditional ira will be 0.    Could I possibly have double paid taxes on this balance for any of the prior years because of this balance on line 14?

I am looking for some guidance on my situation.  I bought a condo in 2016 for $350k as primary residence. In July 2017, I moved out and started renting the condo. For the first year of rental (2017), I took the depreciation. However since 2018, I havent taken any depreciation on the condo.  I wanted to know the process to claim the depreciation for 2018-2025. I found some conflicting information -  1. This discussion states that for cases like mine (rental depreciation taken in first year but not later) I cant file form 3115 if you read the response at end of post. Is this true? - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/investments-and-rental-properties/discussion/missed-depreciation-on-rental/00/3536264 . I couldnt verify this anywhere on IRS website.  2. I have a second rental which i started renting last year. I am assuming for this property, I can start taking depreciation without worrying about my condo that i started renting out in 2017.
Hi did you ever figure out a solution to your problem? I am having the same crisis now with over 4000 limit error.

I converted long-term rental single-family property to short term rental during the same tax year. Do I add income and expenses for both L-T (Jan - June) and S-T (July - December) rental period and record them to the existing property in TurboTax or do I add another property for the short-term rental period and allocate expenses accordingly?

I'm having a similar issue. On the Ohio IT NRC, I need to be able to reduce the total Deductions from the Ohio Schedule of Adjustments (IT NRC Line 8), so that they include only amounts paid while I was an Ohio resident. In my case, I paid ACA premiums while I was NOT an Ohio resident. I included these payments as Deductions on the Ohio Schedule of Adjustments (Line 44), in order to reduce my total yearly income on Ohio IT1040 (since Ohio does not tax income used to pay ACA premiums, per the instructions for Line 1 of the Unreimbursed Medical Care Expenses Worksheet on p. 41 of the Ohio IT1040 instructions), but I need to indicate on IT NRC that these payments were made while I was a non-resident.
If it is not entered in federal section there is no place in the state section. NJ allows deduction for the ABLE contribution.
Actually I just figured out where to download from "Products & billing". However, I encountered an error.

When asked for the proceeds in the Investment and Savings section, you should enter $15,000.   Even though the form shows the total house price of $75,000, the "Allocation" line is the confirmation that your share of the proceeds is only 20%. Reporting the full $75,000 would cause the IRS to think your share was much higher than it was.

Same issue in March 2026 - computer share does not and has not ever printed a CONTROL NUMBER on my 1099B and yet Turbotax and Computershare's websites both self-congratulate themselves on being tied together and are supposed to be working well together.     This has been reported for years now ... why hasn't another way been introduced to handle the this very Frequently encountered issue?
I just filled a complaint with The Better Business Bureau

If the state told you to wait longer, I guess the next step is to wait longer. Maybe they're backlogged. Each state, and the IRS, processes their own tax returns on their own schedules, so the fact that you got your federal and New Jersey refunds doesn't tell you anything about New York. The fact that the New York return was accepted means that they did get it. One other thing I guess you could try is to call again and see if you get a different answer from a different representative. Try asking specifically if they have a record of returns that were accepted but not processed yet.

It says it is not processed. It has been almost 3 weeks since I filed the return. No notifications at all about the status
