By the response from @DianeW777  above suggests that I can split the 1099 into two separate entries/investments -- one using the Total entry; and a 2nd one using the Details by  individual transactions -- with Wash Sale adjustment..  Then all required details will be on the Form 8949 that is part of the Tax Return that is efiled.  So no Form 8453 will be needed?   Splitting the info on a 1099 seems to be a common solution to other TurboTax's deficiencies!

No, you do not list your Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) in the Deductions and Credits Section. Since your QCD wasn't captured when you downloaded your 1099-R, delete it and re-enter it manually.   How to delete a 1099-R and add another one:   Open TurboTax Go to Wages & Income Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security Select Revisit by IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R) Select the trash can next to the 1099-R that you want to delete Select Add a 1099-R. After you enter your 1099-R, TurboTax will ask you a series of questions regarding your distribution.    Select I transferred all or part of this money directly to charity on the Do any of these situations apply to you? Screen. Enter the amount that was transferred directly to charity when you get to that screen.   You will get a screen that tells you the amount of your retirement distribution that is designated as a nontaxable Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).   Refer to the TurboTax Help article  Where do I enter my 1099-R? for navigation instructions.

@vivianoliver wrote: There was nothing on the K1 regarding the sale of the stock.  The stockholders sold their stock.  When I enter the sale numbers, because there were two stockholders, shouldn't this be split?     If you sold the stock of the corporation, you only enter what YOU sold your stock for.  You don't enter what somebody else received for selling their stock.   Does that answer your question?  If not, maybe you can clarify things.  The corporation itself (the stock) was sold, right?  The corporation didn't merely sell its assets, right?

Okay, I have two 1099-DA's and when I import them into TT one is labeled a 1099-B (for stocks and there is no option to change this description in the drop down menu) and the other is labeled a 1099-R (for retirement). Why is TT not recognizing these forms as a 1099-DA? Thank You.
