I just ran into this issue with another retired fed.  My box 5 is NONE since I don't get FEHB (deferred retirement).  Box 5 is where insurance premiums paid that year go - and OPM uses it for FEHB premiums.  But subtracting that from your pension is incorrect and could result in huge penalties from the IRS!  That calculation only works when you've *bought* an insurance contract that provides you with a monthly payment.  Turbotax is now trying to treat a federal (and perhaps state/local) employee pension as an insurance annuity.  It is NOT.  So I stand by my answer that the easiest way to avoid a miscalculation is to answer "No" to the question of whether the pension from OPM is a periodic payment.
I've asked the bot several questions to arrive at an answer and it has been unable to point me in the right direction. Thanks

Specifically look for the form noted above: Form IT-182 carries your passive activity loss forward You have access to all forms when you choose to print your return in TurboTax Online/Mobile.  However you are required to pay before printing, but do not have to file until you are ready. Can I print a copy of my return in TurboTax Online before filing? If you are using TurboTax Desktop you can switch to Forms and review all forms and worksheets.   @nj30

I think I know how Intuit may have fixed this if they didn't ask you to check the "Main home in the US for more than half of 2025."   When you are inputting information in the My Info section, After the box that says Select your state of residence on December 31, 2025, there is a question that asks "Select any other situations that apply" with seven boxes underneath.    The first box says "I lived in another state in 2025." The last box says "None of these apply.   If you check the box that says "None of these apply" they would automatically check the earlier box that says "Main home in the US for more than half of 2025" because, or course if you didn't live in another state your home must have been in the US for more than half of 2025 (unless you were not a US resident but that is taken care of elsewhere (I think).    That's all that I can think of but if it works I'll go with it.

Looking at the screenshots you shared, it appears you're taking the standard deduction rather than itemizing, and so you wouldn't be able to deduct the MA vehicle excise tax even though it qualifies for that purpose. If your itemized deductions reported on Schedule A (such as Line 5 State and Local Tax Payments) are not higher in sum than the standard deduction, then you should continue to take the standard deduction, and not worry about entering small amounts that are for itemizers.    TurboTax will switch automatically between the Standard Deduction and Itemized Deductions based on your entries, so it is important to enter all your data if you're unsure if you meet the threshold.    This screen "2024 and 2025 Deductions & Credits" is a summary of items entered, not items that are necessarily deductible for your tax return. Alimony is non-deductible federally but is allowable for your state, for example. You should should select Forms and view Form 1040 and its schedules under Forms in My Return on the left side, to see which items are actually being applied on your tax return bottom line.   Do you need this payment to be entered so that you meet the threshold for claiming itemized deductions? If so, we can begin to troubleshoot the data entry issue.   Learn more: TurboTax - Why didn't my mortgage or property taxes increase my refund? | IRS - Deductions and credits for individuals

I have the same observation. in 2024, it added the veh. registration amount to the std deduction amount and that increased my total deduction.  But this year, it is displaying $0.00 for the veh. reg. line (even thought I have over $300.00 in veh reg.) in the total deduction area.   Hey Turbo Tax/intuit, can you please look into this?

Yes, that's correct. You can enter a date that correctly identifies the holding period using my example. Choose a 'Date acquired' by making sure it represents the correct holding period. You do not need 'Various' as a selection, you simply need a date that will give your long or short term holding period so the tax calculation is accurate.   @v8899

You misunderstood something or saw the Total Refund amount on the TurboTax Tax Home website where is showed a math calculation for your total refund (Refund minus Taxes Owe).   A tax refund cannot be used to pay taxes owed. Based on your post you received the IRS Federal tax refund of $1,261 and you still have to pay the state taxes owed of $1,063.

I agree, but nonetheless the refundable credit from Form 8839 is not properly imported on Line 15 of the 1040-x form.   Even worse if I go to thr Forms view and enter the correct value fails on the error check stating Lune 15 should be left blank.   This should be easy for Intuit to replicate and confirm the bug and rectify.

I no longer had that issue.  Because I deleted the form on the desktop version I went through all questions again.  That section B about water heaters and sub panels I answered no, which populates a No on line 21 which states skip forward to 26 (so nothing in line 25, no yes or no response) was correct and accepted.  I always use the desktop version, not online.  While somewhat frustrating, it's done, and it worked.  I will continue to purchase the desktop version and find late last year attractive pricing via Amazon, or some big box stores.

It depends. There is no 'Form's section in TurboTax Online, however we can resolve this.    This is not an easy action for tax software to distinguish and so there will be some manual tracking on your part. The tracking is to remember and always keep with your current tax records the year or years no deprecation was taken on the property.   Here is how to enter your rental property that is now placed in service after being dormant for a year. Add each asset you had for the rental property from the beginning, with the original date placed in service (not 2025). Add any asset that was specifically placed in service for the first time in 2025 (purchased or capital improvements). TurboTax will appropriately calculate the proper depreciation for 2025. Use your tax return that most recently included this rental property to calculate the depreciation that was not used in earlier year(s). This entry should eliminate the experience you see for the building and land costs noted.   it's unclear what you mean by this statement, unless you are saying the original cost of the rental property has been fully depreciated in the past. Depreciation was taken during the previous period of rental (and that was, of course, only depreciating the improvements part of the property). Please update here with additional details after your enter the assets correctly.
I have more than 4 1099Rs. Where do I enter them?
