TurboTax Canada Desktop version can be installed on Windows 10, but we recommend using Windows 11. You cannot use the same license code to switch to the DIY/online version.    If the product does not work or activates within 60 days of purchase, you may request a refund and purchase the DIY/Online version if necessary.   How do I get a refund for a TurboTax product?   Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
I finally found the file. But I had to open it from the file location because Turbotax wouldn't open it when I clicked on continue tax return.

Re your advice,  If you are using TurboTax Online, you can try: Go to "Tax Tools" in your left panel of your TurboTax screen, then  Select "Tools" and  Under "Other Helpful Links"  Select "Delete a Form."  This will bring up all of your forms and you can click on "Delete" next to the Form 8915-F.  If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you can try:  Click on the "Forms Icon" on the top right of your screen to bring up  "Forms Mode"  Choose "Form 8915-F" from the list of forms in the left panel of your TurboTax screen 3. Use the "Delete Form" option at the bottom of the worksheet to remove the worksheet Select "Yes" to confirm deletion of the form So, I tried to find the section and delete the for 8915-F, but it's not there.  Can I just ignore this and file the return? That's what the CPA tax (not just the so-called 'trained' experts, expert told me.

Hello, I am doing a relative's taxes.  She has dementia and is in a memory care facility.  My Wife is POA and Trustee (I am Successor Trustee). I filed the relative's Federal and PA returns today. The Trust is entitled a 'Grantor Trust' 'Irrevocable Trust Agreement' which has an assigned EIN.  The Trust 1099-INTs have the Recipient's TIN = Trust EIN.  My interpretation is that I should use Optional Method 2 which says the Trustee can report the 1099s to the IRS, but the instructions don't say how - and - the instructions say that the Grantor still has to include the Interest on their personal Returns. I am not sure what benefit it is to have the Trustee somehow report the 1099's to the IRS if the Grantor's personal return has to be amended to include the Interest anyway - just report the 1099's in the amended personal return.  So, I am back to square one.  I was hoping to file separate returns, including the 1099-INT Interest, using the Trust EIN. Please clarify what I need to do.  Thanks.

Let's go through each question and step. Excess ROTH and 1099-R. You did a great job entering it last year. You do not disregard the 1099-R. enter the 1099-R you received just as it is. The code P tells the IRS and the program, that it was for a prior year exempt the income by answering the follow up question - Did you already report this? or maybe Is this for 2025? You have already reported the income and it is not for 2025. you may have federal and state tax withheld on the form which applies to this year. TY 2025. Excess HSA. You need to report all forms: enter the first 1099-SA forms. The first is a normal code 1 that you used on medical expenses so it will zero out. enter the second 1099-SA form exactly as written with code 2 in box 3. When TurboTax asks Did you pay for anything with this distribution or Was this a withdrawal of excess contributions? Select Yes. Next, the program will ask Did you already report this?, select yes. This registers your 1099-R and disregards the income for TY25. Your box 2 earnings are insignificant but technically, you earned them in 2025 with the distribution. When you start 2025, the program will ask about overfunded HSA in 2024, answer no since you have corrected the situation.   Amended return:   If you paid additional state tax, you will want to add that in as taxes paid in 2025. In the federal section, go to Estimates and Others Taxes Paid Select Income Taxes Enter state and local taxes paid from the amended returns. If you live in AL, OR, IA, MO or LA, federal taxes paid may be deductible on your state return. You can add federal taxes paid for the amended return in the same income tax location.   The IRS is aware of the forms, codes, and what you have done. Uploading the amended tax return is just a pdf. The program only knows what you enter. You are only entering what is relevant to your 2025 tax return.   Final steps: Review your forms. Your 1099-R may show on line 4a but will not be included on line 4b. Your 8889 line 16 will be zero for the HSA.

No, the form does not give enough information so the program is asking you. The program is trying to figure out if part of your income is tax free this year.  If you made contributions to your retirement with after tax dollars, some of your benefit may be tax free. Look at box 1 and 2a, if they are the same amount, you do not have a tax free amount and you can skip the simplified method. If you have a number in box 5, some of your contribution is tax free and the program is making sure of your eligible amount. If some of it may be tax free- enter the number of years you have received this pension.

I received a 1099-G from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for PFML benefits that I received, however when I try to enter this income on TurboTax it only lets me choose if the income was: a Taxable Grant (it wasn't), Agricultural Payments Program (again, no), Market Gains on CCC Loan (nope), RTAA payment (still no) or Business and Farm Tax refund (yet again...no).   The 1099-G specifically has a Box 1 which has the value of taxable income, but there's no where for me to enter that, the next page only has Boxes 2, 5, 6, 7 and 9. :(   Why no Box 1? After I finish the page it says that the total valule is $0, which is false.

This is now fixed but you will need to follow these steps to generate the form and/or fix your rejection:   Sign in to your TurboTax Online account and select Fix my return. Select Federal from the left menu, then Deductions & Credits. Scroll down to Charitable Donations and select Revisit next to Donations to Charity in 2025. You must review each non-cash donation entry. For any donation or group of similar items over $500, ensure you have provided: The organization's name and address. A description of the property. The date you acquired it and how (e.g., purchase, gift). Your cost or basis and the Fair Market Value (FMV). Once you provide these details, TurboTax will automatically generate Form 8283.   If the form still does not appear in your Tax Summary: Go to Tax Tools > Tools > Delete a form. Check if there is a "ghost" Form 8283 or Charitable Contribution Worksheet that is blank. Delete it. Go back to the Donations section and re-enter the details for the specific high-value items. This forces the software to re-trigger the form creation. Once corrected, proceed to the File section to resubmit your federal return.

Form 8283: I'm having the same issue. My tax returns were rejected because the required Forem 8283 was not included.  I did find a completed 8283 in my printed copy. I tried to call the Turbo Tax help line three times. Each time there was a wait in excess of 30 minutes and the results were the same _ no help.  The first person spoke very broken English and didn't know how to help.  she said she would transfer me and I was disconnected. The second call was a poor connection and then I was dropped. The third time I took the option of having them call me back. The call never came.  VERY FRUSTRATING. I've been a Turbo Tax customer for over 20 years.  I think this is my last year.

Ok @xmasbaby0 - THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was banging my head and then decided to just start all over and enter all info MANUALLY. Not sure what was wrong before, as I did have all my info and questions you asked entered correctly. But now, my 2025 taxes are correct and have been filed! Having this forum and discussion with you was very helpful! You take care and keep relaying the good tax info! ☺️
