Yes This could work, but make doubly sure that the 60-day rollover window is strictly respected. I suggest that you repay within say, 50 days to make sure that everything is wrapped up within 60 days.

I tried to delete the state return and reload it and the same problem exists.   I verified last years return, which had very similar amounts and the state clearly went in as itemized as well as the Federal.   Is there a way to change the state return so that it has itemized instead of standard?

It would be best to double check with the manufacturer to be sure you have the correct code. Also, check to see if they did register with the IRS here. Qualified Manufacturer QMID code (Qualified Manufacturer Identification Number) is a unique 4-digit code required for claiming the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (EEHC). If you confirmed all is correct, be sure your TurboTax software is updated with the latest information.  TurboTax Online will update automatically.  TurboTax Desktop is as follows: Sign in, select Online in the top left menu bar,  Next, select Check for Updates TurboTax will update or alert you that you are already up to date Please add additional information here if you need further assistance and we will help.

If someone else has already claimed her, even if incorrectly, your return will be rejected from e-filing unless you have an Identity Protection PIN.  If you are able to file first, there will not be a concern with rejection.   Since you are the person entitled to the dependent, the best course of action is to file a paper return if you receive an e-file rejection.     When the IRS receives two returns with the same dependent, they will typically reach out to both filers and request proof that you were able to claim the child.  They will then determine who is entitled to the dependent. Make sure to respond to the IRS when they send a request for information.   Here is an article you may find helpful: What if somebody already claimed my dependent?

lhopkins25 if you filled in the table for 2024 indicating "Self plan" for every month, go take a look at the generated Form 8889 Smart Worksheet.  Specifically the Line 18 Smart Worksheet.  You will see that Turbo Tax has marked January as having "none".   Now go back and set the January 2024 month to "Medicare or none".  The Line 18 Smart Worksheet will now show that January has "Self-only" checked.   Hopefully they fix this but we can always use this as a workaround if they don't.
