If you need to prepare a return for 2024:   You cannot change the tax year.   The current online program is for 2025 only.   Only a 2025 return can be prepared online and only a 2025 return can be e-filed.   Online preparation and e-filing for 2022, 2023, and  2024 is permanently closed. Note:  The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac.  It cannot be used on a mobile device.   To file a return for a prior tax year  If you need to prepare a return for 2022, 2023, or 2024  you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign,  and mail the return(s) https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/ You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.   Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/state-taxes/contact-state-department-revenue/L9qVToi02_US_en_US?uid=m6e06um0   When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.   Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.         If you need to amend your 2024 return to add a W-2:   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/amend-change-correct-return-already-filed/L4VjJ9BA2_US_en_US?uid=m76mq6z2    Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.     You can watch for information here:
How do I amend the 2020 & 2021 tax return?  I see the option 2022-24, but not previous years.

What kind of account?   Are you referring to an Intuit Account and are unable to log in to Online TurboTax? Or is it something else? This is a public user forum, so do not post any personal info here.   Here are a couple of ways to reach TurboTax Support:   TurboTax Support hours are currently Mon-Fri, 5AM-5PM but may expand as tax season ramps up. https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/contact/   Or you can use direct private messaging to a TurboTax support agent at X or Facebook by going to one of these links:  https://x.com/TeamTurboTax or https://www.facebook.com/turbotax
No one can do that for you.   We have no access to your tax return.  You need to go to MY INFO to make changes or add information for a dependent.
Still getting "Available Soon"  on 4 JAN 2026.

@Bmcrae49  Casualty losses are deductible in the year you sustain the loss, which is generally in the year the casualty occurred. You have not sustained a loss if you have a reasonable prospect of recovery through a claim for reimbursement. If you have a casualty loss from a federally declared disaster that occurred in an area warranting public or individual assistance (or both), you can choose to treat the casualty loss as having occurred in the year immediately preceding the tax year in which you sustained the disaster loss, and you can deduct the loss on your return or amended return for that preceding tax year. See Revenue Procedure 2016-53 below for guidance on the time and manner of making and revoking an election under Code Section 165(i).    the election allows you to claim the loss in 2025 (rather than 2026 because that is the year the loss was "sustained" under the tax rules) by filing a return that includes the election statement. section 3.02 of Tev Proc The election statement must contain the following information: (1) The name or a description of the disaster and date or dates of the disaster (2) The address, including the city, town, county, parish, State, and zip code, where the damaged or destroyed property was located at the time of the disaster sec 3.03 of rev proc sec 3.03 of Rev Proc: For an election made on an original federal tax return, a taxpayer must provide the information required by section 3.02 of this revenue procedure on Lines 1 or 19 (as applicable) of Form 4684 (Casualties and Thefts). A taxpayer filing an original federal tax return electronically may attach a statement as a PDF document if there is insufficient space on Lines 1 or 19 of the Form 4684 to provide the information required by section 3.02. **************************** Turbotax does not have the provision to attach a PDF. so if the required info can not be entered thru the tax app, you'll need to mail in your return. *************************** the rev proc also contains other provisions, like if you want to change your mind for the year you claim the loss https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/rp-16-53.pdf    and here is the code section specifically IRC 165(i) https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/rp-16-53.pdf  and here is a link to the regukation https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/26/1.165-11

This answer will assume your previous return was prepared in Online TurboTax.   Any return prepared in desktop TurboTax will not be in an Online account.  Here's how one would normally find past-year online returns and how to troubleshoot for multiple accounts (User IDs) if necessary.  Many people end up with more than 1 account.  The pathway to download the PDF or tax data file depends on whether or not you have started an online 2025 return.  I provide both scenarios below, so choose which one is appropriate for your situation.   If you have not yet started a 2025 online return: Sign in to your account.   What you see next depends on whether or not you have already started a 2025 return in that account.   If your left column menu is minimal, and does not have a Tax Home tab displayed, that would imply you have not started preparing a 2025 return in that account.  If you haven't yet started a return, it will start asking you some questions.  Answer those preliminary questions on a few screens (you don't actually have to prepare a return), and then when you are far enough into the process, the left menu column will change, and you'll then see a Tax Home option in the left menu column.  Do not click the Documents tab.  Instead, click on Tax Home.  Then on the Tax Home screen, scroll way down to the bottom to "Your Tax Returns & Documents".  Expand that section and choose the past year you want.   If your past returns are not shown there, then you likely have multiple accounts and signed into the wrong one.  I'll tell you below how to troubleshoot.   If you have already started a 2025 online return: Log in, and if you've already started a 2025 return in that account, then it may already open at the Tax Home.  If not, click the Tax Home tab in the left column menu.  Do not use the Documents tab.  At the Tax Home scroll down and expand "Your Tax Returns & Documents."   If the past returns are not there, see the steps below.   If you do all that and can't find the past return, here's how to look for multiple accounts: You can have up to 5 accounts that use the same email address for notification purposes.  A User ID may be an email address, but it doesn't have to be.  It might be only part of an email address, or it can be anything at all.   To get a list of your User IDs, reset password, and recover account access, etc., you can use the tool at the link below.  When using the Account Recovery tool, try using your phone number first if you can still access it.   After that, if necessary, then run the tool on your email address(es) you can access. NOTE: Before running the account recovery tool below, log out of all Intuit accounts including this user forum, or you might end up in a loop.  Then clear your browser Internet cache, close your browser, then reopen it, and go to the link below.  You may wish to copy this link so you can paste it into the new browser session. https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery If still no luck after running that on your phone number you can still access and email address(es) that you can access,  here's another method:          Go back to the tool again, but this time leave the data field blank, scroll down a bit, then choose the small blue link that says "Try something else", and it will look you up by other parameters.
Please explain that some more.   So you have started a 2025 return, but the program can no longer find the 2025 data file to continue working on it?    What are you using to prepare your 2025 return-... See more...
Please explain that some more.   So you have started a 2025 return, but the program can no longer find the 2025 data file to continue working on it?    What are you using to prepare your 2025 return--Online TurboTax or desktop software?   If desktop software, is it for Windows or Mac?    If using desktop software, the default location for the *.tax2025 data file is in the Documents\Turbotax folder unless you chose an alternate location.  We can tell you more once we understand your situation.
No idea without more details. You say you were on win11 and it is was working and it updated to 25H2? Are you sure it wasn't already 25H2 and maybe something else is the cause?
@taxhard47 fixing a typo, see other comments also   "but online is different workflow, no forms mode, and you can only do 1 return."

Level 14 and that useless link is your answer? Sorry, I'm sure you just fired off an answer and was sure it would be good but I think he was looking for something like this:  ttps://accounts.intuit.com/app/account-manager/productsBilling/turbotax? click on Products & Billing click on The TurboTax link there.  Pick the tax year you want, then Licenses and downloads There you can find the license code and copy it to the clipboard. Then you can install it on (your new) computer. I just did the same thing for 2024 so I could do 2025 taxes and refer back to the 2024 year too
