And....filing married filing separately if one spouse had no income would make no sense at all.   Without income from working, you would not be eligible on a MFS return for any child-related credits even if your child was born in 2025.       If you are legally married at the end of 2025 your filing choices are married filing jointly or married filing separately when you prepare your 2025 return next year.   Married Filing Jointly is usually better, even if one spouse had little or no income. When you file a joint return, you and your spouse will get the married filing jointly standard deduction of $31,500 (+ $1600 for each spouse 65 or older)  for 2025. You are eligible for more credits including education credits, earned income credit, child and dependent care credit, and a larger income limit to receive the child tax credit.    If you choose to file married filing separately, both spouses have to file the same way—either you both itemize or you both use standard deduction. Your tax rate will be higher than on a joint return.    Some of the special rules for filing separately include: you cannot get earned income credit, education credits, adoption credits, or deductions for student loan interest. A higher percent of your Social Security benefits may be taxable. In many cases you will not be able to take the child and dependent care credit. The amount you can contribute to a retirement account will be affected. If you live in a community property state, you will be required to provide additional information regarding your spouse’s income. ( Community property states:  AZ, CA, ID, LA, NV, NM, TX, WA, WI)    If  you are using online TurboTax to prepare your returns, you will need to prepare two separate returns and pay twice since with online, you get one return per fee.     https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tips/marriage/should-you-and-your-spouse-file-taxes-jointly-or-separately/L7gyjnqyM?srsltid=AfmBOopGqCNexowW0pYgvsf7ycIkrx4VjO_63UXv6vSnfu3UEGQiKQTh   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/income/getting-married-mean-taxes/L2RgmagpE_US_en_US?uid=m69on7t0

@donlafferty @baldietax You can upgrade from Deluxe to Premier in desktop software if you find that you need the more expensive software.  Every version of desktop has all of the forms and schedules but you get more help with the higher versions.   If you start with Deluxe and find you want to upgrade, there is an icon on the tool bar in your desktop software that you can click to upgrade, and you pay the difference between the purchase price of Deluxe and Premier.

The software is not yet ready for the tax law changes for overtime and tips, so you will need to be patient.   We do not know yet how these will be handled on W-2's or in the software.   Employers have until the end of January to issue W-2's.    You are not "refunded" for overtime----You are just not taxed on a certain amount of it.
A legally married couple can file a joint return even if one spouse had little or no income.   Prepare a joint return with your spouse.

We can give you a FAQ on how to amend, and we can answer your questions here as you go----but we cannot go step by step with you or hold your hand----this is do-it-yourself software.   Wait until your original return has been fully processed before you amend, and make sure you have saved a pdf of the original return before you amend. (If you do not save it as a pdf, the amended return will overwrite the original, and the original will be lost forever)   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/amend-change-correct-return-already-filed/L4VjJ9BA2_US_en_US?uid=m76mq6z2    Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.     You can watch for information here: https://www.irs.gov/Filing/Individuals/Amended-Returns-(Form-1040-X)/Wheres-My-Amended-Return-1
There are still many updates that will be made to the software in the next several weeks/months.   The forms for tax on tips and overtime are not yet ready.
So I have 46,000 in overtime how will the no tax on overtime effect me

@courtneypadden82 TurboTax does not have holiday advance loan.  Sorry.   For a few weeks, TurboTax was offering a “Flex Advance” loan, but that program has now been permanently closed for the rest of the year.   In January there will be a refund advance loan that you can get when you are ready to file; no money is issued to you until your e-file is accepted by the IRS.  The IRS will not begin to accept 2025 e-files until late Janu

You will be able to access the 2024 return you started by using the exact same account and user ID that you used when you started it.   But you can no longer use online software for any further changes.       Start a 2025  return online and enter some personal information  so that the menu on the left opens up and lets you access your past year returns.   Online tax preparation and e-filing for 2024  returns is now permanently closed.    Now it is too late to use online software or to e-file. If you have any changes/corrections at all to make to your 2024 return, you now have to complete it using desktop software, which you must download to a full PC or Mac  (not to a mobile device). Then you need to print, sign and mail it.   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/printers-printing/finish-prior-year-return-started-turbotax-online/L9Oe4M90A_US_en_US?uid=m68tffpe   If you already paid for your online software you can ask customer support for a download of the desktop software.   They are available from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific time Monday - Friday   https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899263-what-is-the-turbotax-phone-number     If you are getting a refund, there is no penalty for filing late.  If you owe tax due, then file and pay the amount due as shown on the Form 1040, but expect a bill later from the IRS for the penalty and interest you will owe.  Only the IRS will calculate this—TurboTax will not calculate it.     When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.   Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

What are you trying to do?  Just find a copy of your W-2 from 2020?  TurboTax does not have that. I NEED A COPY OF MY W-2  (or 1099)      W-2's come from employers.  There is not a federal or national website that provides W-2’s.     TurboTax does not have a copy of your W-2—the Wage & Tax Statement—issued to you by your employer, (nor does TurboTax have copies of your 1099’s).   Whether you entered your W-2 by keying it in yourself, importing from a payroll site or by snapping a photo using the mobile app—-TT does not have a copy of your W-2.  If you saved a pdf of your completed tax return, the worksheets will show the W-2 information you entered, but not the actual W-2.      You should always save those documents for your own records. You could ask the employer(s) for copies or you can get a copy from Social Security (for a fee of $62).   To get a copy of a W-2 from Social Security https://faq.ssa.gov/en-us/Topic/article/KA-02501   https://www.irs.gov/help-resources/tools-faqs/faqs-for-individuals/frequently-asked-tax-questions-answers/irs-procedures/transcript-or-copy-of-form-w-2/transcript-or-copy-of-form-w-2     You can get a wage and income transcript from the IRS:  It will not show the actual W-2, 1099’s, etc, but will show the income information the IRS received.  It will not, however, show your state information. It will only show the federal information. https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript   Or you can pay the IRS $30 for an actual copy of your tax return which will include copies of your W-2’s      https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf      https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-forms/get-copy-w-2/L8FTim9MO_US_en_US?uid=m68ee4os           You do not say what kind of 1099 information you entered or that you are looking for.  There are over a dozen kinds of 1099's.  A 1099NEC is typically issued by an individual or business for whom you performed work as an independent contractor, so seek a copy from them if you did not save yours.  Many of the other types of 1099's are issued by banks, brokerages and other financial institutions from which you can seek copies.
