How long has it been since you filed?   An efiled return normally takes up to 21 days, but it's not uncommon for it to be further delayed if the IRS has to review anything.  A mailed paper return can take 6 weeks or longer to process. Here are some things you should check before phoning the IRS:   If you efiled, double-check to be sure the return was efiled successfully and accepted. If you used Online TurboTax, you can sign into your Online Account and check the efile status at the Tax Home.  If you used desktop software, you can check from within the software. If that showed it was accepted, (or if you mailed a paper return), you can use the "Where's My Refund" tool at the IRS website below to monitor the status of your Federal refund.  https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund See what is displayed there about your refund.   Here are some tips when using the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool:   If you efiled, be sure you have waited at least 24 hours after acceptance before using the IRS WMR tool.   If you mailed a paper return, it won't show up in the tool for at least 4 weeks or longer. Be sure you enter the correct tax year, SSN and filing status. Be sure you are using only the Federal refund amount.   Do not include any state refund or any total refund or net refund (Fed and State) that TurboTax may have provided on a screen.   Look at your actual Federal return to get the Federal refund amount, i.e., your Form 1040, Line 35a. that is correct. regardless of when you sell it since it has a zero tax basis the proceeds are income treated as depreciation recapture - 1245  - ordinary income you'll see it on form 4797. if proceeds are less than the cost the recapture is the amount of proceeds not the $140K in depreciation you originally took. if proceeds are more, the full $140K is recaptured and the excess is treated as capital gain.

Some states are fairly quick with refunds, while other states can take a long time processing returns--even several weeks--as they crack down on detecting fraudulent returns.     Here are some things you should check:   First, you need to be sure your state return was successfully filed.   If you efiled, be sure your efiled state return was accepted.  If you used Online TurboTax, you can check by looking at the Tax Home in your Online account.   Or did you choose to file by mail instead?  TurboTax does not mail it for you.  If you chose that method, you have to print, sign, date, and mail it.   The FAQ below tells how to check on a state refund and has a link for your state.  Then you'll see information for your state (which may include info on how long it takes in your state) and a link to go to your state's "Where's My Refund" tool.   It may also have a link to your state's department of revenue.   Your state may also have a FAQ section at it's "Where's My Refund" site that tells how long to expect in your state, and how to contact them to inquire.   Choose your state from the table in this FAQ: FAQ:  How do I track my state refund? https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_...
My W2 shows less than what is typed in CA tax return form. Not sure how this happened in Turbo tax.

on the face of it NO.  if you can contact them ask why can't they take the 2304$ out of your winnings.  This doesn't pass what accountants refer to as the smell test. However, we have no way be sure.     think of it this way if you get a w-2 they take the deductions/taxes out and pay you the net. they don't ask you to front the deductions and then pay you the gross
I'm being told I'd owe tax on the total deduction ($140K deduction) no matter when I sell the van.
we have no way of knowing if the IRS is correct in saying you don't qualify as HOH. The IRS can make mistakes you can use this IRS website to check https://www.irs.gov/help/ita/what-is-my-filing-... See more...
we have no way of knowing if the IRS is correct in saying you don't qualify as HOH. The IRS can make mistakes you can use this IRS website to check https://www.irs.gov/help/ita/what-is-my-filing-status  just as an aside, the tax rates for a person filing as single are higher than those filing as head of household. in addition, if you use the standard deduction, it's 21900 for HOH but only 14600 for single. thus, not only would the tax rates on your income be higher but you would also have a higher taxable income    if you don't qualify for HOH to change to single type "personal" - no quotes - in the jump to box then click on the personal wks  and change HOH to single. Turbotax selected HOH based on info you entered about your dependent and yourself. therefore, there is something wrong in either your info worksheet or the dependent's. we have no access to your return.    for example, to claim HOH the child must be a blood relative. this includes stepchild and foster child if you can claim them as a dependent.   if you have further questions post back in this thread so we can follow what the issue seems to be

Also...you need to be perfectly clear about which tax year you are talking about, and what year you filed it.   A return filed later in 2023 cannot be a 2023 tax return......it would be a 2022 tax return because the 2023 software isn't ready yet, and the IRS doesn't even have most of their final 2023 forms released until mid-late January of 2024. _________________ Or did you file 2023 taxes later in 2024 ???  IF so....then how late?   TTX shuts down e-filing in mid-late October, so if it was after ~15th of October, you may have had to print and mail it in yourself....even if TTX let you finish preparing it after the 15th of Oct.

Just paying the fees doesn’t file the return.   Did you go through all the steps to efile?  When you efile you get back 2 emails.  The first email only confirms the transmission.  The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.   When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc.  What does it say?   How to contact Turbo Tax https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/using-turbotax/help/how-do-i-contact-turbotax/00/26991

I submitted the return later in the year in 2023, but I paid for the Deluxe version of TurboTax so I could have the extra assistance. I remember filing the return, and I have the order information from then, but I need to know there my files went since the IRS has no record of the reports. They recently also filed a letter of no-filing, and I need to know how to fix this.

Because they're charging me over $2,000 and they said I need to switch it from head of household to single with a dependent

I admit defeat. If your tax pro can't get to it either I will break down and take the refund and face any tax consequences in 2025. I will add that one apparent easy fix to an entangled problem like this would be to allow for the customer to upload a screenshot of the problem rather than trying to describe the matter textually.
