This was NOT resolved. On April 15 I kept getting this so filed for an extension.  Today I'm trying to efile my California taxes and I'm STILL GETTING IT.   I've been your customer for maybe 10 years, but will never use TT again. And I have told all my friends and posted this on my Facebook and yours.   It's unconscionable that you let this continue PAST the filing deadline when you knew  about it at least as early as February.

Hello, I have TurboTax Premier 2024 version.  I did not enter any RSP contributions, but Line 20800 is picking up my Deduction Limit. It appears to be a bug. Please confirm when a fix will be provided/how I can correct this in the interim. RSP Worksheet: Current year contributions in remainder of 2024 = zero Contributions made in first 60 days of 2025 = zero   Note: I entered the full deduction limit on line "(ii) - Enter the portion of line (i) that you would rather carry forward and deduction in a future year when you are in a higher tax bracket".. and this nullified the amount line 20800.

Thank you so much about posting this info about how to tell TurboTax to use the MACRS table.  I have been trying to figure out why TT was not calculating depreciation correctly.  I have a mixed-use rental property (74.52% business use), and I had completed Worksheet 5-1 "Worksheet for Figuring Rental Deductions for a Dwelling Unit Used as a Home" from Publication 527.  For the life of me, I could not get TurboTax depreciation to agree with this Worksheet (which I KNEW was correct) until I told it to use the MACRS tables.  I have been struggling for many hours.  After doing numerous searches, I found this post where you were dealing with the same issue I had.  I'm so glad I found this and that you made it very clear how to fix the problem!   THANK YOU!!

TurboTax did not divide the total deduction between my spouse and me correctly (the sum was higher than the total deduction) causing the underpayment (over refund?). I feel like this is a failing of the software, and we should not be responsible for the discrepancy.

I am using TurboTax desktop and have a 1099-OID from Wells Fargo Advisors for tax exempt bonds.       There are amounts in both Box 6 (acquisition premium) and Box 11 (tax-exempt OID).   I need to adjust the amounts for both items (for acquisition premium not reported to the IRS and for tax exempt original issue discount not reported to the IRS).      TurboTax gives me the option to adjust an amount, but not to adjust both boxes.  I tried entering the amounts separately (a 1099-OID entry for Box 6 and then another for Box 11 but I received an error message).   How would I report these items?  (Alternatively, could I enter the tax exempt OID box 11 and related adjustment as tax exempt interest to a 1099-INT that I create  (and enter it in Box 😎 and then include the acquisition premium in Box 13 of the 1099-Int I create for the Wells Fargo 1099-INT.--rather than enter it in the 1099-OID screen enter the amounts in a 1099-INT screen.  The result is the same (tax exempt interest will be the correct amount, but not sure if this "fix" /work-around is appropriate).

I contacted TurboTax support, and they advised me to download the PDT file from the online version, save it with a .tt24 extension, and then import it into the desktop version — or possibly do it the other way around. Unfortunately, none of these steps are working. It feels like the customer support agents are just guessing without actually understanding the process. They also told me that activating the code on the desktop version would automatically activate the online version, which is completely incorrect.
I"ve tried to clear out 00-0000000 so it was blank and that didn't work. I also tried to change it to 99-9999999 which didn't work either.

I'm writing to express my deep frustration regarding the confusing and misleading packaging of your tax software sold through Costco in Canada. In 2022 and 2023, my local Costco only carried the online version of your product. In 2024, they switched to offering only the desktop version. After purchasing the 2024 version and spending two full days trying to file my return, I finally discovered that the online and desktop versions are not compatible for Canadian users—despite being compatible for American users. To make matters worse, the packaging for both versions is nearly identical, with no clear warning or explanation that these versions are not interchangeable in Canada. This lack of transparency has cost me four days of unnecessary stress and wasted time, and I’m very disappointed that the company has not made this critical information more obvious to customers. I strongly urge you to revise your packaging and product labeling to clearly state the limitations and compatibility issues—especially for Canadian customers—to prevent others from going through this same experience.

@jsgdavidmrg wrote:  TurboTax on windows 10 for 2025 Can I use TurboTax on Windows 10 for 2025 taxes if I purchase the extended security from Microsoft? Great question, but I don't think folks will yet know at this point.  All I know is this FAQ below, which only says Intuit "may" restrict the 2025 software.   You'll have to see if you get additional comments in this thread.   They are likely a bit skittish of the potential security issues for users who don't pay Microsoft, and any case they would have to test it on Windows 10 machines as they developing it before making a final decision.  It does give them the excuse to push more people toward Online TurboTax.   FAQ:  How does the end of support for Windows 10 affect my TurboTax Desktop experience? https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/download-products/end-support-windows-8-affect-turbotax-experience/L4v9atO3O_US_en_US

There is no "acceptance code"---   Did you e-file?  Did you click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”     When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say that your return was submitted.  The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected.  If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.   First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/ If the IRS accepted it, what does it say here?  (Allow 24 - 48 hours after acceptance to look) https://www.irs.gov/refunds            Or does your account say “Ready to Mail?” Or “Rejected?” Or “Printed?”       FROM THE IRS WHERE’S MY REFUND SITE: https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund How it works Where's My Refund shows your refund status: Return Received – We received your return and are processing it. Refund Approved – We approved your refund and are preparing to issue it by the date shown. Refund Sent – We sent the refund to your bank or to you in the mail. It may take 5 days for it to show in your bank account or several weeks for your check to arrive in the mail.

if you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund then the banking information on the tax form is the information to send your refund to the third party bank.  That bank gets your refund first from the IRS.  They take out your TurboTax fees and send the rest to you---and that bank has YOUR direct deposit information.   When you choose "refund processing"   TurboTax gets its fees when the IRS releases your refund.  Your refund goes to the third party bank.  The bank takes out your fees and then that bank sends the rest of the refund to you.     Santa Barbara Tax Products Group, LLC  (SBTPG) is the bank that handles the Refund Processing Service when you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your refund. This option also has an additional charge from the bank that processes the transaction.    You can contact them SBTPG, toll-free, at 1-877-908-7228 or go to their secure website www.sbtpg.com        How can I see my TurboTax  fees?    https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/intuit-account-billing/review-fees-turbotax-online/L1XnIzgzg_US_en_US?uid=m682vq7k   What is Refund Processing Service?

Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities.  There is no rule as to which one will come in first or how long it will be between their arrival in your account.   TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.      First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/   Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.   You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2024 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds   To track your state refund:     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr   If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/refunds-take-longer-others/L14YlqFrH_US_en_US?uid=lexdr7zh . https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst
