My return is now including a Schedule 1 that lists my 1099-K revenue for personal property sold at a loss at the top like it should, but I’m still getting the review error in the 1099-K section. I had just manually logged the 1099-K income in the other misc income section and then made a second entry with a negative income value so it netted out (as a work around), but that may not be necessary now.

Whoa! STOP! You have to do each year separate. And the Online version is only for 2024 now. To do a prior year return you have to buy the Desktop program here, https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products You will need a full Windows or Mac to install it on. If you have a simple return and want to file for free you can fill out the forms by hand. Here are some basic forms….. Here is the IRS 2023 Form 1040 https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f1040--2023.pdf or if you want bigger type use 1040SR for Seniors, https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f1040s--2023.pdf And 2023 Instructions https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/i1040gi--2023.pdf 2023 Tax and EIC Tables https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/i1040tt--2023.pdf Sch 1 : https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f1040s1--2023.pdf Sch 2 : https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f1040s2--2023.pdf Sch 3 : https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f1040s3--2023.pdf Then when you do file 2024 enter 0 for the 2023 AGI since you are filing 2023 late. You have to print and mail prior year returns. When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS received the return. Don’t forget state. Important! Mail Federal and State in separate envelopes and mail each year in separate envelopes.

You can't use TurboTax 2024 to file your 2023 tax return. It’s too late to file a prior-year state tax return on TurboTax Online. You would have to purchase TurboTax Desktop and recreate your federal tax return, then complete your state tax return. For more information, review the TurboTax Help article Can I prepare and file just my state return using TurboTax? and How do I file a 2022, 2021, or 2020 tax return? @erick_2go

Stop...do not try to enter 2023 information into online TurboTax. Online is only for 2024 returns--no other year.
You cannot change the tax year. The current online program is for 2024 only. Only a 2024 return can be prepared online and only a 2024 return can be e-filed.
Online preparation and e-filing for 2021, 2022, and 2023 is permanently closed.
Note: The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac. It cannot be used on a mobile device.
To file a return for a prior tax year
If you need to prepare a return for 2021, 2022, or 2023 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign, and mail the return(s)
https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/
You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.
Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

"I seem to remember that CA also doesn't give a reduction in income for HSA contributions." - Also true
"making sure that I documented enough previous year medical expenses to exceed the account balance." - you mean expenses for 2023?
"Do I still need to perform the CA adjustment to income and add the HSA amount as an addition? " When you look closely, you will see a number of items concerning HSAs that TurboTax automatically adjusts on the CA return. By and large, you should leave these alone.
But you are referring specifically to the 1099-SA that was the distribution to close the HSA? Did you tell TurboTax that the distribution was for medical expenses or not?
Well. the amount that was for medical expenses ends up nowhere on the federal return on but is on Line 4 on Part II on Schedule CA. The amount that was not for medical expenses ends up on line 8f Schedule 1 (1040). but on Schedule CA in Part I schedule B, line 8f.
I think that whatever you did with the distribution, you should leave those alone.
"I also attempted to override line 13b to zero on the Schedule A worksheet, but TurboTax called it an error). This does appear to be a gap in functionality." - Why?

Reach out to Only Fans to verify the EIN number. If you imported the 1099, try deleting it and entering it manually. If you're using TurboTax Online, clear your Cache and Cookies.
