I am a 70 year old woman caring for her disabled adult son. I received nontaxable Medicaid waiver payments according to Notice 2014-7 and also SS benefit and some interest from retirement accounts. My question is regarding the Social Security benefit Worksheet:   when you calculate the taxable part of social security benefit, do you have to add in line 3 of the worksheet the nontaxable Medicaid waiver payment? I know the Medicaid waiver payment is not added to the adjusted income, but taxable SS benefit is and it is not clear to me if I should add or not the Medicaid payment to the other sources of income (line 3= lines 1z+2b+3b+4b+5b+7+8), since line 8 is negative income showing the Medicaid nontaxable payments. I know it is not a common situation/interest, but for me it is a lot of time consuming with no result until now. Thank you,
Can I use Turbo Tax to file estimated taxes with the State and Federal govt. I do not need Turbo Tax to do my return.
I’m 16 years old and am working my first job. I live in Alabama and I want to know if I’m exempt from taxes before I get my first check. Should I claim exemption or do I have to pay?
My new iMac (M2 or M3 I believe) runs TT desktop 2023 and 2024 just fine.  Where are you seeing information that it doesn't?
On the left there is a little box called "Flags". I use it to add notes. It even links to the section that I want to associate with that note. Try it!
Does anyone know if Intuit has addressed this issue?  A search of the TurboTax is futile.  I really need to know iif I should be looking for a TT replacement or not.   Thanks

There may be an unfortunate tax penalty to you here. If an individual pays disability premiums personally with after-tax dollars, the disability benefits are not taxable. So there is a chance that the original W-2s were correct, reflecting no taxable benefits.   But if those payments had to be repaid if you received SS Disability benefits, you are returning benefits which were not taxed (appropriately) but replacing them with taxable SS benefits. You can't record a credit or a deduction in the current year if those prior year benefits weren't taxed in the first place.

We had a rental the remained unrented in all of 2024. It had been a rental in the prior 10+ years We did not attempt to rent the property in any of 2024 After significant expenses in both 2024 and 2025 the property sold My understanding is all those expenses should now be used to adjust our basis? By default, the 2024 TurboTax return wants to take depreciation for that year. I think I should not be taking that depreciation? How to I report all of this in my 2024 return? If I convert my property on 2024 to personal use in TurboTax will it still have all my information about depreciation for the 2025 sale?
I used the second state for another partnership but dont want in this file!   Please help!
No.  Those are not income taxes, they are classified as employment taxes, and the amount of those taxes has nothing to do with your income tax.

You can't "fix" this except by printing your correct return, signing it, and mailing it in.  The IRS will process your return and pay your refund, and then address any conflicts.    If you did figure out which dependent was the problem, and remove them so you can e-file, you may get much less money, and then it would take 6-8 months to get an amended return with the correct info.      If you claimed the correct dependents based on the rules, file by mail. If you think your child might be a victim of identity theft, you can get an IP PIN for them that will block anyone else from claiming them in the future. https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/get-an-identity-protection-pin

Sorry, Online is only for 2024 now. Online for 2023 and prior is closed now so you can not start a new 2023 or prior return or finish one. You have to do each year separately How to prepare a prior year return https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/using-turbotax/help/how-do-i-prepare-a-prior-year-tax-return/00/25984 To do a prior year return you have to buy the Desktop program here, https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products You will need a full Windows or Mac to install it on. How to finish a return you started online https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/prior-year-return/help/how-do-i-finish-a-prior-year-return-that-i-started-in-turbotax-online/01/26322 If you have a simple return and want to file for free you can fill out the forms by hand. Here are some basic forms….. Here is the IRS 2023 Form 1040 https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f1040--2023.pdf or if you want bigger type use 1040SR for Seniors, https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f1040s--2023.pdf And 2023 Instructions https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/i1040gi--2023.pdf 2023 Tax and EIC Tables https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/i1040tt--2023.pdf Sch 1 : https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f1040s1--2023.pdf Sch 2 : https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f1040s2--2023.pdf Sch 3 : https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f1040s3--2023.pdf Then when you do file 2024 enter 0 for the 2023 AGI since you are filing 2023 late. You have to print and mail prior year returns. When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS received the return. Don’t forget state.
