Here's how you can view the new Enhanced Senior Deduction if you meet all the qualifications. NOTE: The new deduction starts to phase out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000; $150,000 for joint filers. For seniors age 65 and older and who meet the other qualifications for the new Enhanced Senior Deduction, TurboTax automatically fills out Schedule 1-A in the background and then enters the amount of the deduction on the Form 1040, Line 13b. It is not part of the standard deduction--it is a completely separate deduction on its own line. If you are "married filing jointly" and both qualify, then you both get the new deduction. If you are "married filing separately", however, you are not eligible. Single filers, HOH filers, and qualifying surviving spouse, if they otherwise qualify, are eligible. You appear to be using Online TurboTax--at least that is what a tag shows underneath your question above. If you are still preparing your online return, and want to verify that you received that new senior deduction, here's how you can preview the Form 1040 and confirm you are getting the enhanced senior deduction. If you already printed out a copy of your return, you can view the Form 1040, Line 13b and Schedule 1-A where it was calculated. If still preparing your return, here's how to preview it: With your return open go to the left column menu, and click on TAX TOOLS, then subtab TOOLS. In the Tools window choose "View Tax Summary." On that Tax Summary screen you should see that you are getting "Additional Deductions (Schedule 1-A)." Then, while still on that Tax Summary screen, you can further verify it by going over to the left column menu and under Federal clicking on "Preview my 1040." That opens up the Form 1040 Worksheet. Scroll down to Line 13b, and the figure there includes the enhanced senior deduction from the Schedule 1-A. And while you are there, you should see your standard (or itemized) deduction on Line 12e.

@Mike9241 @JamesG1 Were we able to resolve this? On Turbotax Desktop Premier 2025, box 11 code S entries for my K-1 are going to Schedule D, line 3 instead of line 5. This is incorrect per IRS instructions: "Code S. Non-portfolio capital gain (loss). The partnership will provide information on net short-term capital gain (loss) and net long-term capital gain (loss) from Schedule D (Form 1065) that aren’t portfolio income. An example is gain or loss from the disposition of nondepreciable personal property used in a trade or business activity of the partnership. Report total net short-term gain (loss) on Schedule D (Form 1040), line 5. Report the total net long-term gain (loss) on Schedule D (Form 1040), line 12." https://www.irs.gov/instructions/i1065sk1#en_US_2025_publink[phone number removed] cc: @taxwarrior123 @jack19

I file my taxes yesterday and because I had underpaid, I had to pay a penalty of about $600 bucks. Since I am getting a refund, I asked that the money be held back from my refund. Today I found that the import from Charles Shwab was incorrect and missed a dividend (a small one). I wonder why the import does not import all of it, but thats a topic for another day. Now I am trying to file the amendment because I owe $9 for the California tax. When Turbox tax calculates what I newly owe in 540 Schedule X, it miscalculates the amount owed because the refund it had calculated in my original 540 was deducting the $600 penalty I owed. So, it now saw I owe $609 instead of the $9 i really owe. If I fix the refund amount manually in the forms include the penalty as well, the smart check fails because the amount does not match the amount on line 115 of Form 540. It seems like a bug with Turbo Tax. I dont want to get an audit because I owe 9 bucks more, but I dont want to pay the 600 bucks penalty twice. What can I do?

if it is correct there's no way to resolve the issue. You'll have to file by mail and that will likely apply to your return.

I provided the shortcut method above to go directly to the section for estimated tax payments made for 2025 in Online TurboTax. If you want to use regular navigation, here's how. So between the 2 methods, you should be able to use one or both of them. When you click in the left column on the Federal tab then subtab Deductions & Credits and in the dropdown choose the Deductions & Credits Summary, it may take you to a page called "Your Tax Breaks". That shows the "Tax Breaks", i.e., deductions, that someone has already worked on this year or that TurboTax is expecting from what was entered last year. Lower on that same screen should be a button or link for "Add more tax breaks" or "Show more tax breaks" or similar wording. When clicked, then the screen should expand, and all the deduction topics are displayed including "Estimates and Other Taxes Paid." Then that topic can be expanded further to get the subtopic Estimated Tax Payments.

State estimated payments and Federal payments made for 2025 are both entered on the Federal side. For Online TurboTax, here's a tool that should get you directly to the section for estimated tax payments made for 2025. I've also provided an alternate navigation method in a comment that follows this one. With the return open, go to the left menu column and click on TAX TOOLS, then the subtab TOOLS. In the Tools Center choose the blue button Topic Search. In the topic search line enter the phrase estimated tax payments without quotes. Make the selection in the list (it may already be highlighted), and either double-click it or click the GO button. Next screen is Estimates and Other Income Taxes Paid. Use the subtopic Estimated Tax Payments. Choose the appropriate category and tax year you are reporting (Federal, state, local) and click START or Revisit. NOTE: Before filing, make sure your Federal estimated tax payments correctly show on the Form 1040, Line 26, and that any state estimated tax payments (if applicable) show up on your state return.

Thanks for the reply. I actually amended the return on turbo tax desktop app within 30 min. Now I have two local .dat files and when I open both of them one by one then both show in "Check e-file status" as Accepted. Does it mean both my original and amended returns have been accepted by IRS.

I'm running into the same issue--with the caveat being, I was getting a "free" state e-file service if I used the web browser instead of the downloaded software. Dum dum dum dum duuuummmmm

The form is a mess. Filled it in 4 times but then it proceeded to try to sell me next year's Turbotax without providing access to any form to send. Poorly designed.
