Turbo Tax and the IRS only keeps the last 7 years. If they still have it…….. How to Access prior year online returns https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/prior-year-return/help/how-do-i-access-my-prior-year-return/00/27010 If you can't get the side menus to open up to access the prior year..... You need to start entering some basic Personal Info in 2024 for the side menu to open up. Just continue a little ways into 2024. I had to go though about 12 screens. If you used the Desktop CD/Download program then the only copy is on your computer and not saved or stored online. So you need to make and keep your own backups. Or request a transcript from the IRS https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript Or get a copy of your return using form 4506 https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf

If you don't know if you are using the Online version or the Desktop program you are probably using Online. You would have had buy, download and install the Desktop program on a full Windows or Mac computer with a 16 digit License Code. Are you married? Check your spouse's date of birth too. Any make sure your 1099R is assigned to you. Exactly where are you seeing the 10%? Does it say you have an excess accumulation? You need to go back through the 1099R entries and revisit all the answers. There was an update on Feb 20, 2025 that fixed the RMD problems. So if you have the Desktop program be sure to update it. The questions have changed so your prior answers won’t be right. I would delete the 1099Rs and enter them again manually. That usually fixes it and resets the questions. Deleting has been fixing it for others.

context: at the time of sale I asked them about the EV credit and they said: 1st sales person stated he doesn’t do that. And gm later stated you handle that with your accountants. I asked them for the time of sale report and they brushed it off. And now they are stating that I was suppose to do it at the time of sale and it is too late now… Where online can you see if they filed? Are you 100% sure about this statement down below? Yes, if you did not transfer the credit or they did not file it, then you would be able to still claim the EV credit on your return. If for some reason your return is rejected for the EV credit, it is possible that they somehow reported it and you would then have to straighten that out with them and the IRS's guidance.

@THBSr wrote: The average period of customer use for such property is seven days or less I note that this provision regarding short-term rentals applies for purposes of one paragraph of the passive activity loss limitation. would be reportable on Schedule C instead of Schedule E. As you noted, the seven day rule ONLY has to do with if it is a passive activity or not. The determination of Schedule E versus Schedule C has to do if Self-Employment Tax applies or not (if self-employment tax applies, it goes on Schedule C; if it doesn't apply, it goes on Schedule E). Regulation §1.1402(a)-4 says that rentals from real estate is not subject to SE tax (and therefore Schedule E), unless "services" are provided (see subsection (c)(2); in which case it would go on Schedule C). The determination of SE tax (and therefore Schedule E versus Schedule C) has nothing to do with seven days. https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/26/1.1402(a)-4

First, are you SURE you originally deducted it on Schedule C? If it was your own insurance, it should NOT have been on Schedule C. It would have ended up as the Self-Employed Health Insurance Deduction on Schedule 1. In TurboTax, that is done automatically when you enter the 1095-A and then say it was part of your business. Assuming you filed the original correctly and claimed the deduction on Schedule 1, then the 'added back' amount should be on Schedule 1, not Schedule C. But that may still result in the same problem. While there are several possibly reasons why you are encountering that result, I suspect it is this: The original IRS guidance gives three options to calculate things. The first and most optimal one sometimes doesn't work out right, so they give an "alternative" calculation. Sometimes that "alternative" calculation gives really weird results like what you are seeing. The third option is "another method that produces amounts that satisfy applicable tax law". TurboTax does not do anything for that option, but that is the option that likely would work best for you. It could require some gruesome manual calculations though. If that is what is causing it, a possible work-around is to contribute to an employer retirement account, such as a SEP. While you could contribute more, hypothetically contributing $242 to your SEP would exactly offset the added $242 (assuming you correctly add it to Schedule 1, rather than Schedule C).

What is "it" that tells you to choose a U.S. based financial institution? We can't see your screen. Where exactly does it tell you that? What are you doing when it tells you that?
Are you getting that message from TurboTax, or are you getting an IRS reject after you e-file? If it's in TurboTax, what topic or section is it in? What is the title or heading on the TurboTax screen? If it's in a state tax return, what state is it? If it's an e-file reject, what is the complete reject message, including the code?
Are you typing in the name of the bank or selecting it from a list? If it's a list, it might be listed as JPMorgan Chase Bank, which is the legal name of the bank.

Have you started a 2024 return in that account yet? Doing so allows you to get to a copy of your prior return. You don't actually have to prepare the 2024 return. Or it's possible you have more than one account. In any case, see the detailed explanation below: This answer assumes your 2023 return was prepared in Online TurboTax. Any return prepared in desktop TurboTax will not be in an Online account. Here's how one would normally find past-year online returns and how to troubleshoot for multiple accounts (User IDs) if necessary. Many people end up with more than 1 account. The pathway to download the PDF or tax data file depends on whether or not you have started an online 2024 return. I provide both scenarios below, so choose which one is appropriate for your situation. If you have not yet started a 2024 online return: Sign in to your account. What you see next depends on whether or not you have already started a 2024 return in that account. If your left column menu is minimal, and does not have a Tax Home tab displayed, that would imply you have not started preparing a 2024 return in that account. If you haven't yet started a return, it will start asking you some questions. Answer those preliminary questions on several screens (you don't actually have to prepare a return), and then when you are far enough into the process, the left menu column will change, and you'll then see a Tax Home option in the left menu column. Do not click the Documents tab. Instead, click on Tax Home. Then on the Tax Home screen, scroll way down to the bottom to "Your Tax Returns & Documents". Expand that section and choose the past year you want. If your past returns are not shown there, then you likely have multiple accounts and signed into the wrong one. I'll tell you below how to troubleshoot. If you have already started or finished a 2024 online return: Log in, and if you've already started a 2024 return in that account, then it may already open at the Tax Home. If not, click the Tax Home tab in the left column menu. Do not use the Documents tab. At the Tax Home scroll down and expand "Your Tax Returns & Documents." If the past returns are not there, see the steps below. If you do all that and can't find the past return, here's how to look for multiple accounts: You can have up to 5 accounts that use the same email address for notification purposes. A User ID may be an email address, but it doesn't have to be. It might be only part of an email address, or it can be anything at all. To get a list of your User IDs, reset password, and recover account access, etc., you can use the tool at the link below. When using the Account Recovery tool, try using your phone number first if you can still access it. After that, if necessary, then run the tool on your email address(es) you can access. NOTE: Before running the account recovery tool below, log out of all Intuit accounts including this user forum, or you might end up in a loop. Then clear your browser Internet cache, close your browser, then reopen it, and go to the link below. You may wish to copy this link so you can paste it into the new browser session. https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery If still no luck after running that on your phone number you can still access and email address(es) that you can access, here's another method: Go back to the tool again, but this time leave the data field blank, scroll down a bit, then choose the small blue link that says "Try something else", and it will look you up by other parameters.

If a ssn on your return has been used on another return it could be just a mistake and someone else accidentally typed the wrong ssn on their return. Or if your dependent filed a return did he check the box that says he can be claimed on someone else's return?
