I was at the pay for turbo tax page and my total was 56 dollars. I clicked a different link to see if that would give me a greater discount, but it didn't and now it won't go back to my previous pricing. It is 135 dollars now. I have tried clearing the cache and to no avail. Tried private browsing, still didn't work. The original link I had still indicates I should be getting the 56 dollar price. Very frustrating as I wanted to finish taxes tonight.

I have run into the same problem. Went around twice on this issue. Second time I entered random info for name and did not enter any other details. At the end I was able to use the trashcan to delete the canadian retirement plan. Have not yet finished my return, so hopefully I will not have issues with the review process like other users have noted. This has apparently been reported since back in February and here we are in April and the error still exists and I just did another update today. Based on this and more issues showing up in TurboTax in recent years, maybe it is time to try tax software from a different company.

I read the IRS instructions for form 709 (for 2025). If you have contributed above 19000 (single) or 38000 (couple), you can split the amount over 5 years. Instructions for Form 709 (2025) | Internal Revenue Service Line B. Qualified Tuition Programs (529 Plans or Programs) If in 2025, you contributed more than $19,000 to a qualified tuition plan (QTP) on behalf of any one person, you may elect to treat up to $95,000 of the contribution for that person as if you had made it ratably over a 5-year period. The election allows you to apply the annual exclusion to a portion of the contribution in each of the 5 years, beginning in 2025. You can make this election for as many separate people as you made QTP contributions. You can only apply the election to a maximum of $95,000. You must report all of your 2025 QTP contributions for any single person that exceed $95,000 (in addition to any other gifts you made to that person). For each of the 5 years, you report one-fifth (20%) of the amount for which you made the election in Part 1 of Schedule A for gifts to non-skip persons and in Part 2 of Schedule A for gifts to skip persons. In column (f) of Part 2 (Schedule A), list the date of the gift as the calendar year for which you are deemed to have made the gift (that is, the year of the current Form 709 you are filing). Do not list the actual year of contribution for subsequent years. However, if in any of the last 4 years of the election, you did not make any other gifts that would require you to file a Form 709, you do not need to file Form 709 to report that year’s portion of the election amount. Example.   In 2025, Pat contributed $100,000 to a QTP for the benefit of Max (a non-skip person for GST tax purposes). Pat elects to treat $95,000 of this contribution as having been made ratably over a 5-year period. Accordingly, for 2025, Pat reports the following. $5,000 (the amount of the contribution that exceeded $95,000) + $19,000 (the 1/5 portion from the election) $24,000 the total gift to A listed in Part 1 of Schedule A for 2025 In 2026, Pat gives a gift of $20,000 cash to Alex (a non-skip person for GST tax purposes) and no other gifts. On Pat’s Form 709, Pat reports in Part 1 of Schedule A the $20,000 gift to Alex and an $19,000 gift to Max (the one-fifth portion of the 2025 gift that is treated as made in 2026). In column (f) of Part 1 (Schedule A), Pat lists “2026” as the date of the gift. Pat makes no gifts in 2027, 2028, or 2029. Pat is not required to file Form 709 in any of those years to report the one-fifth portion of the QTP gift because Pat is not otherwise required to file Form 709. You make the election by checking the box on line B at the top of Schedule A. The election must be made for the calendar year in which the contribution is made. Also attach an explanation that includes the following. The total amount contributed per individual beneficiary. The amount for which the election is being made. The name of the individual for whom the contribution was made.   If you are electing gift splitting, apply the gift-splitting rules before applying the QTP rules. Each spouse would then decide individually whether to make this QTP election. Caution:   Contributions to QTPs do not qualify for the education exclusion.

Hey everyone, I’m a bit confused (and honestly frustrated) about something that just happened during my TurboTax filing process. I reached the final stages of filing my taxes and saw the following charges: TurboTax Online State 2025 — $64.00 Expert Final Review 2025 — $39.00 TurboTax Online Do It Yourself Premium 2025 — $104.25 When I got to the “Expert Final Review” step, I was given two options: Schedule a call Skip for now I clicked “skip for now” because I couldn’t check my schedule at the moment. I assumed I’d be able to go back later and schedule the call.   But after that, I was never given another opportunity to schedule it. There’s no clear way to access this service now, no instructions, no follow-up email—nothing. And TurboTax is even letting me go ahead and file my taxes without any indication that a review was completed.   So I’m trying to understand: How do I actually schedule the Expert Final Review now? Will I receive any kind of email or confirmation that the review was done? Or was I charged $39 for something I never actually received? This isn’t what I expected, especially given the trust I’ve had with TurboTax. Would really appreciate if someone could clarify how this is supposed to work or what steps I should take next.   Thanks in advance.   EDIT: NVM found the way to schedule it lol

@ aatiqvann19 wrote:  I haven’t received my state return yet When I go to track it, it keeps saying error You didn't say what the error message is, but if the state tracking tool says it can't find your info, then be sure you successfully filed the return (see steps below) and that you are entering all the information into the tool correctly.  Otherwise, if it's a technical issue with their refund tracking tool, you may have to phone the state tax agency, but here are some things to check first.      Some states are fairly quick with refunds, while other states can take a long time processing returns--even several weeks.     Here are some things you should check:   First, you need to be sure your state return was successfully filed.   If you efiled, be sure your efiled state return was accepted.  If you used Online TurboTax, you can check by looking at the Tax Home in your Online account.   Or did you choose to file by mail instead?  TurboTax does not mail it for you.  If you chose that method, you have to print, sign, date, and mail it.   The FAQ below tells how to check on a state refund.   When you scroll down further there, you will see a link for your state to get to its refund lookup tool.   FAQ:  How do I track my state refund? https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_...

I have a new Airbnb rental room this year (a room within my primary residence house). I also got a new roof this year after the room was placed into rental service. TT premier is stating I can take a "special depreciation" of 100% of the roof's value (proportioned based on square footage of the house) as a one-time allowance. This seems counter to my reading of IRS form 4562 for depreciation and what's considered qualified property for this special allowance (i.e. it doesn't seem to meet the 20-year depreciation rules and should be depreciated at 27.5 yrs). Is this a TT mistake? Or am I entering the roof improvement expense in the wrong place?
was unaware my LLC taxes needed to be done at the same time as my personal income. now filing an amendment, but cant figure out how to apply business exspenses.
Why do you think it is being mailed?   Where does it say that?  Maybe it means you have to print and mail your return to the state.  You can try to switch to efile.

I started with fresh start -- delete everything. Use another username if the old username does not allow you to delete everything. With everything fresh, start saving the online progress on your computer till you have completed all the forms of federal/sate. What i have seen, don't open desktop version as long as you are working on webpage version (as they both have same email addresses and i think that messes up the save to desktop option when simultaneously opened). Hope this helps.
Thanks to Trump and Republicans, IRS has no personnel to handle these situations promptly. Your refund is in limbo indefinitely.   @charrelleervin1

I'm using TT Desktop on a Mac. I'm trying to pay the filling fee with a credit card and keep getting the following error: "We are sorry, we are having trouble authorizing your credit card. Please verify your billing address, card number and CVV and try again." We have tried 4 different credit cards to no avail. I've been on the phone with support for over an hour and they have no idea. And yes, the mailing and billing address match. HEY TURBO TAX - how the heck are we supposed to pay our taxes? Anyone else run into the same issue?
When I go to track it, it keeps saying error

Sorry  There is a lot of confusion about this. For the Desktop Deluxe and above it's a free download of one state PROGRAM, not a free state efile. You can prepare unlimited federal and unlimited state returns. Some people need to file in more than one state so they have to buy another state program. You can print and mail the state for free or each state return including the first one is $20 early or 25 to efile. Except New York is free to efile state. Check the box or online description. It should say Federal + Efile + State. Not state efile.
