Thank you for this information.  It came too late to benefit me sadly. I had also at the same time reached out to my investment advisor at Edward Jones and whom I have yet to hear from.  This forced me to mail both my federal and state returns instead of using e-file.  Not a good customer experience across the board.  Super unhappy that TurboTax has ZERO customer service unless you pay $60.

Thanks again. I have retail purchased version, that wasn't able to install on my windows 10 machine, so I started doing taxes on online, activated with my key.   I have another laptop with Windows 11, that I want to cut over to the desktop version.   Anyways,  I am not able to see the option in Tax Tools to add another state.  The reply to message I don't the see option of attaching a screen shot, otherwise would have attached it.  Thanks again.

Actually, there is still an issue.  I filed my taxes on 12 February 2026 and I waited and waited for my tax return.  I checked at the end of March using Where is my Tax Return and found that it was still being processed.  I checked on or about 8 April and was told I would receive a letter from the IRS.  The letter stated that the QMIN I used was missing or incomplete.  I used I7Q6 (capital i) which was accepted by TurboTax and processed.  I am at a loss as to what I am supposed to do now since it appears that I did use “the correct QMIN”.  That is the QMIN that was entered on form 5695 line 29a with the associated cost.  I’m wondering why the cost is repeated on line 29b.  On line 32 of the form it shows the $2,000 credit. WHAT UP!!!???
My wife has a SEP and turns 72 in December 2026. when does she have to start taking the RMD distribution?  Also how do you calculate the RMD?

Do you see any other option if I could not locate my receipt soon?  Are you referring to a Costco store receipt?   If so, stop at the membership desk at the store and they can print you out a duplicate.  OR if you have an online Costco account, there is a page that shows your past warehouse purchases and receipts.      If you have such an account, log into Costco and go to the Account Home.  Choose the box for for "Orders and Purchases."  On the next page choose the "Warehouse" tab if you bought it in-store.    Then you will be able to find your purchase and view/print a receipt.     It even shows the olive oil I purchased this week.  😁

I used the turbotax online for filing my tax return last night, and Turbotax charged me $295.37 (Order Number: [removed]).  My tax situation is relatively simple: standard W-2 income and a limited number of stock transactions. However, your platform’s design led me to believe that the "Premium" service was a requirement rather than an elective add-on. I am requesting these refunds based on the following: Lack of Fee Transparency: The final cost was not clearly communicated until the very end of the process, at which point the time invested in the platform created a "sunk cost" pressure to proceed. Misleading Service Tiering: My return did not require the level of "expert" assistance or specialized features that justify a near $300 price tag. Deceptive: Upon reviewing my records and discussing this with friends, it is clear that I was led into the same unnecessary premium tier last year. I have been a loyal user, but the current pricing structure feels like a predatory tactic rather than a value-added service. I'd like to request a refund and only be charged for the necessary service.

Your parents need to get an IP PIN if they want to e-file a return claiming your brother as a dependent.   They can create an IRS account and verify their identity to get the IP pin.   Once they have that, they can e-file.   Or they can file by mail.      Since you filed by mail, not marking the box does not affect your parents e-file.   But it sounds like your brother did e-file and did not mark the box, so that is why your parents need the pin to e-file their return.   Here is how they can get the IP pin >>  Get an IP PIN   Beginning in the 2025 filing season, the IRS will accept Forms 1040, 1040-NR and 1040-SS even if a dependent has already been claimed on a previously filed return as long as the primary taxpayer on the second return includes a valid Identity Protection Personal Identification Number (IP PIN).

"TurboTax does not seem to detect all of them."   You probably are encountering  the following: TurboTax exploits the Detail Reporting Exception for Box A, Box D transactions without adjustments. All, or some of such transactions will not be listed. if it is "some", TurboTax doesn't explain the reason, when it should be "all" (see  related forum discussions).     compare your Schedule D subtotals and grand totals with the  totals on your consolidated 1099-B. If the Grand SubTotals  by Category for Proceeds and Gain/Loss match, all transactions are accounted.   @yatoshura
