It’s apparently a trend to frustrate long time clients. I have been using turbo tax software since the started (almost). Had to use a “silk screen to input the info. Now it appears that their product has become a (b-movie) type of software. this will be my last you of turbo tax. The company as been going downhill in their tax program system and apparently they like it like that. I have wasted way too much time in getting the 2020 tax filled. When I found new information that will affect the result, I mistakenly tried to retrieve the file form my pc only to find it nowhere. It was wiped out. What a disappointment. Good bye INTUIT’s TurboTax.

No, TurboTax doesn't support Form 709. Complete Form 709 if you gave gifts to someone that total more than $19,000 (other than your spouse).
You can download it from the IRS website and complete it. Refer to the IRS website for
IRS Form 709 and Form 709 Instructions.
Refer to the TurboTax article Where do I report a cash gift? for more information.
New Jersey doesn't have a gift tax.
I can't speak on other tax reporting software.

Hello CatinaT1, thank you for this explanation, I was starting to question myself with this situation. I had to amend 2025 for a 1099-NEC I received after the initial filing. After updating the return I chose automatic payment with a date 1 and 2 days after the current date. Both times the return was rejected with the error message: “FPYMT-071-02 - RequestedPaymentDt” in the IRS Payment Record (IRSPyament) must not be more than 5 days prior to the received date. I will print and mail, thank you for your reply.

Well, here's an update since my post last year. I wrote to the President of Intuit before I filed describing the problem, and he actually answered my email. He also had one of their upper tier specialists (the folks who only work on special problems and don't generally work the Help Center) call and work with me. He totally understood the problem (and my complete frustration) and agreed that TT couldn't handle it, but should be able to, especially considering how simple a change it would be and the number of people who will be inheriting IRAs in the next few years. He then took a few days to talk to the programmers to see what was possible. He reported that they were aware of the problem but that it wasn't a top tier issue for them! He hoped he could convince them to move it up the priority list after tax season ended, but based on what you reported above apparently that did not happen. I suspect that's because of all the changes the OBBB created for the programmers. So what did I do for 2023 and 2024? In 2023 I succumbed and did what TT said I had to do -- filled out the 8606 myself and snail mailed my return. But for 2024 I took a different approach. I filed electronically and after my return was accepted by the IRS I snail mailed them the 8606 with a letter saying that TT was hopelessly flawed and failed to include my 8606 with the return. So far I have not heard a thing from the IRS (not that I expected to). For 2025 I will do the same thing and thankfully this will be my final inherited IRA distribution!

TurboTax does not support (United States Gift and Generation-Skipping Transfer Tax Return), FORM 709 which is required if you exceed the annual gift tax exclusion ($19,000 per person per individual giver for 2025) to a single recipient. You must file Form 709 separately from your personal income tax return; gifts received are generally not taxable to the recipient. Only the GIVER reports the Form 709 and the amount in excess of the exclusion reduces the taxable estate exclusion.
You must download Form 709 and the instructions from the IRS website.

Sounds like @ralphevelarry is having a situation similar to mine. The data in 1099-DIV is correct but TurboTax is not filling and transferring the data correctly into the NY State part of the program. I posted a similar question here: https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/state-taxes/discussion/1099-div-tax-exempt-dividends-box-12-not-properly-transferring-to-ny-state-for-taxable-portion-it/01/3838246#M187053

it is likely because you are using the online edition by mistake instead of installing the desktop software you purchased. You must install the software using the license code from your Sam's Club purchase and use that desktop version to file. Online software has the toolbar in a black vertical column on the left side of the screen. Desktop software has the tools up on the top of your screen.
How to Fix It:
Close your browser.
Install the software from the CD or download link provided by Sam's Club.
Locate your 16-character license code on your receipt or in your digital confirmation email.
Open the installed application on your computer to file.

I have filed with Turbotax Deluxe for the past few years and need to file a Form 709 for gift tax reporting for this 2025 tax year. Are there any current 2025 versions of Turbotax or any other online tax reporting software that will file both my 1040ES Federal and NJ State Tax returns as well as the Form 709 for gift tax reporting?

Software shows the potential higher deduction from tables but doesn't select it. I have tried all workarounds already posted in other entries.

@slowandsteady TurboTax Premium (formerly Home & Business) can prepare and e-file California Form 568 for single-member LLCs (SMLLCs) disregarded for tax purposes, typically linked with personal returns. It handles the annual $800 tax and fee calculations, but may require mailing if multiple LLCs exist. While TurboTax Premium (Home & Business) supports single-member LLCs (disregarded entities), separate partnership LLCs may require TT Business.
During the CA state interview, you must identify your single-member LLC, report gross receipts, and enter the SOS file number
How to Access Form 568 in TurboTax
Via Interview: In the CA state return, go to the "Business Summary" screen, edit your LLC, and indicate it is a Single-Member LLC.
Via Forms Mode: Search for "568" in the search box or select it from the Forms mode

I have been a long time customer using the desktop version... if I have to re-type all of my info to start a tax return for 2025, I think I will switch to a different service/software. The REMOVE PASSWORD button is not there. I opened the file on my desktop version... no problem. The updater ran to update the desktop software... no problem. BUT I CAN'T REMOVE THE PASSWORD..... FRUSTRATING

I appreciate what you have tried to do. However, this remains a TurboTax software problem with how TurboTax is computing their information. I have no overrides in my return, I loaded my program today and there were no updates, and I have no errors. The problem remains the same I explained. It is a software error. I don’t have Prizes and Awards. As I noted in my prior note, my income is on the line 11z on the 1099-MISC worksheet. I am a retired CPA who ran the tax organizations for 2 Fortune 500 companies. I know how the credit should calculate and TurboTax has a software error they need to correct. Warning for Any TurboTax filer with foreign tax credits and income from Form 1099-MISC line 11z. TURBOTAX IS INCORRECT AND. YOU WILL OVERPAY YOUR TAX LIABILITY BECAUSE THE PROGRAM HAS A BUG THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED!!!!!!!!!!!

When I run the error check, in TT Business, for my S-Corp, it says Line 18a (Employee Benefit Programs, Gross) on Form 1120S must have a value (it's blank). I *think* the value that goes on Line 18a is supposed to be Health Insurance Premiums paid by the employer. When I check the Federal Taxes > Deductions page, I see $0 for Insurance, health and other benefit. When I click Update under Compensation and Benefits > Insurance, health and other benefits, I see that I have entered the amount (about $5,000) paid for medical insurance for Officers (>2% owners), but it still shows $0 on the Deductions page after I press Continue. How do I get the correct value to appear on Line 18a?
