My basic question is 1099-S as a general category seems incorrect vs 1099-B for stocks. Seems it is for property and 1099-B is for stocks. There are few post I found that support my thinking, really confused how to make sense of this, please advise https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/investments-and-rental-properties/discussion/how-do-i-write-off-worthless-stock-if-i-don-t-have-any-forms-e-g-1099/00/3563035 https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/taxes/discussion/how-do-i-record-stock-loss-due-to-bankruptcy-of-a-company-so-with-a-value-which-is-now-worthless/00/513140#:~:text=This%20is%20not%20professional%20financial%20advice.%20Consulting,Enter%20December%2031%20as%20the%20date%20sold

Thank you Steam Train. The reboot did not fully resolve my issue, but the Manual update link you provided carried me through to the finish. I appreciate your help very much. Major5686

I use the android online app of turbotax. Koinly updated the turbotax gain/loss into a zip file. Redownlpad the zip file and extract all pdfs from the zip. Go to turbotax add investments section or the add document section on home screen and upload each pdf file from the zip individually. If it asks you to edit, just go into each individual one and in the editing it just asks you if you purchased it orhow you acquired, whichever crypto you have. Best of luck.

I received an email from TurboTax saying my state return was rejected and that I needed to log in and click the "fix my return" button, but when I logged in there is no button with that label. It shows my federal return was accepted and that I received my refund (which I did), but it shows the state return as accepted even though the email says it was rejected. I have not received my state refund, so I assume the email is correct, but the TurboTax website indicates differently. What do I do? Edit: Never mind. Just received an email saying the state rejection email was "sent in error". Let's hope that's true. I still haven't received my state refund.

Your spouse has a family plan and thus can make the maximum family contribution to her HSA. For her, select family coverage for every month. Unless the last month rule was used in 2024, do not answer the questions about 2024 coverage. You apparently do not have an HSA so there is no form for you to fill out.

My turbotax professional messed up on my taxes and did not add the local Philadelphia taxes as "Credits to other jurisdictions" on my NJ tax return. I work in Philadelphia and live NJ. I called NJ IRS and they confirmed this error. Turbotax live experts have been giving me a hard time with trying to amend.

Thank you, I did get the update and the forms printed correctly today. I complete the return for an elderly lady who still likes to write checks and send in the form.

I just checked the fund price, 2/7/24 Closing @ $26.81 and Sold price 2/14/24 @ $26.69 and total shares sold = 37.43 shares ==> 37.43 * (26.69-26.81) = -4.49$ . . . so it is a loss !!

On the NJ tax return, TurboTax does NOT allow an IRA withdrawal to be split between a taxable partial Roth conversion and an taxable IRA withdrawal. The Federal return handles this properly but the NJ return forces ALL IRA taxable withdrawals to be 100% Roth. I pointed this out 4 weeks ago and the Pensions, Annuities and IRA Withdrawals worksheets are still wrong.

if you lived apart from your spouse for the last 6 months of 2025 and you paid more than 1/2 the cost of keeping up a home for yourself and a qualifying child who lived with you for more than 1/2 the year, you can file as head of household. Otherwise, you can either file a joint return if you and your spouse agree or file married filing separately.
a qualifying child is your child, stepchild, or foster child who can be claimed as a dependent (ignoring any of the exemption by the custodial parent - the parent with whom the child lived the greater portion of the year)

TurboTax approved me for an early refund, and the money has already been deposited into my account. However, the IRS app is now showing a message that part of my refund may be held for state or federal back taxes. My question is: if that happens, will I have to pay TurboTax back the difference? Also, does the early refund come from TurboTax, or does it come from the IRS?

@ Fogdog wrote: But when will it be available? That’s the question. The only thing anyone can go by is what is showing in the table below, which is that the Form 1040X is supposed to become available March 4. But the update usually occurs overnight Wednesday into the wee hours of Thursday AM, so it may actually be March 5. Rarely, a form can be released earlier than shown in the table. No one can know for sure--only an expected date. It's been moved back a couple of times already. TurboTax Form Availability Tool In the meantime, do not make any changes in your original return. Also, if you are due a Federal refund, it's recommended to wait on the refund to arrive before amending. Or if you owed taxes due, to wait until the return processes.
