If the overtime is entered in box 14 and you indicated it was Overtime, then the TurboTax program will calculate the deduction for you.

That box is only used if you were eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit. There is no other reason for that box to be checked as you can file your tax return without checking the box.

Do each of you have HSAs or just one of you? Just me, but we both are eligible. How did you contribute the $5,500? Through an employer or directly to one of your HSAs? Employer Did you both have Self-only coverage? Yes. I am over 55+ The family contribution limit is $8,550. So why are they trying to tax me on 250 of the 5500? Thanks.

@BillM223 thank you for clarifying. And you are correct: schedule 1, line 8f has a value of $328. I found the HSA summary page you are referring to: Deduction: $328 Total distributions: $328 Taxable distributions: $0 Taxable earnings on excess distributions: $0 Tax-free company contributions: $7,960 Excess company contributions withdrawn: $0 @Opus 17 thanks for confirming. your and @dmertz replies are helpfing me understand what TurboTax is trying to ask with each question. Hopefully my LAST question: When asked "did [spouse] have excess contributions deducted from their wages?", I believe the answer is "No." ....because her 2025 W-2, line 12, code W is $7,960. If code W was $8,288 (the sum of $328 (excess from 2024 "contributed directly by me) + $7,960 (2025 total contributions by your employer or by me via salary reduction) then YES, [my spouse] did have excess contributions deducted from their wages. Is this correct?

You can pay your federal tax due balance at the IRS website, which is probably the safest and fastest - click the link below to see all of your options.

"Did you enter the figures on your K-11 correctly and indicate this is the final K-1?" Yes to both, I did. "...the carryforward is in reference to your individual income tax return, not the trust" Got it, thanks for clarifying. "Finally, the $2,352 capital loss should be able to be used to offset your other income, regardless of type, if you have no capital gains (you're allowed up to $3,000 after offsetting capital gains)" And therein lies the rub. I comply with all of what you stated, but it seems Turbo Tax is not using the $2,352 in their calculation to offset my net income, as well as their calculation of what I owe the gov't. So now I question whether I should complete my taxes on TT or take it to a Tax Preparer instead.

I seem to be stuck. I have used TurboTax since 2016 and have been very pleased. I tried using the online version this year and now I'm stuck. My tax return is very simple (Social Security only). I owe NO taxes, so everything is very simple. I started my return in TT Online by uploading my 2024 information and that all went well, but when I get to the point of trying to file, it says it can't find info about my 2024 taxes being filed, so it asks where I filed it, but all the options don't apply. I used TurboTax Desktop last year and have still have the email confirming that it was accepted by the IRS. I was willing to start over and make sure everything is fine, but I can't do that either. It says once I've chosen my plan (Do It Yourself), I can't start over.

I agree. I contribute for both me and my wife. We both have separate HD health plans and the limit is over 7000. Turbo tax is telling me I am over the limit and does not consider that I am making the contribution for both of us. IRS allows you to split the amounts between yourselves as long and the combined amount does not go over the family limit. Turbo Tax didn't get the memo.
